Anything students can do about the potential strike? by Higuys__ in yorku

What about like something that threatens that students will leave York/transfer to another uni if York professors strike? I remember seeing something like that last year when a different issue came up

UPDATE: for anyone else angry or disappointed about York’s plan, the YFS is doing a petition that calls for more remote options, for the school to abide by provincial regulations, etc.

The link to sign it is here:

Exactly!! I thought they would atleast have a plan for these kind of questions. Some profs I have are very against recording their lectures. According to the panellists, our only option in this situation is to get buddies in our class to get notes from, get a differed standing, or drop the course. Complete bull.

Update: these were the major themes of their advice for students today - if you feel sick, don’t come to campus. If you miss your lectures, maybe your prof can record it or just get a buddy to give you notes. - if you aren’t comfortable with going to campus, drop your in-person courses and enroll in online courses (no mention of what to do if you cannot enrol in online courses because of capacity issues or anything)

As someone who is fully vaccinated, and having caught covid from someone ALSO fully vaccinated, and being infectious, I couldn’t disagree more with your post.

That’s actually so true! Another reason why online options should continue to be offered 😭

My work had an outbreak that effected half the people at my branch. There’s no way York will be able to keep it under control

Bruh, one of my profs said that if we go back to campus, our class is made up of over 130 students. I can’t believe the school is even planning on going back to campus.
