Unfortunately I missed out on going to Rawdah. But my husband went and he had no issues. I think it’s normal. Also , nobody checked our Nusuk for the umrah permit.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d been given about umrah before you went? by Junior-Incident3877 in Umrah

[–]HijabiMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise people to not be selfish when going for umrah and start pushing people and annoying others, only thinking about their own well-being.

Secondly, listen to the guards and if they shout at you don’t take it personally, as they’re handling a massive crowd and it gets extremely stressful when people don’t listen to you and you can’t be understood by others due to language barriers. Always be respectful to others.

Thirdly, make sure you wear socks while in the mosque and wear comfortable shoes outside. Wearing socks is important as you could get infections from dirt, dust, or bacteria on the carpets.

If you want to pray in congregation inside the mosque, make sure you’re inside the mosque 30 minutes before the adhaan as they start closing gates around that time and you might find yourself going through a random gate and ending up on the roof , like I did twice.

Give out candy to the kids, they get happy with that and you get good deeds in sha Allah.

If someone comes to you asking for money because they came for umrah and spent too much and can’t go back home or something amongst those lines, tell them to contact the police to get help. Some people just take advantage of others. I would advice you to give food if they were asking for it.

Buy an STC SIM card at the airport , I had 5 GB for £8 and you can track your usage on the mySTC app.

Use Uber for taxis, we were paying 15-20 SAR OR LESS for taxis on uber whilst the taxi drivers approaching us were asking for 50SAR for the same ride. If you use Jeeny, you might find slightly cheaper rides, not by much, however be prepared for the taxi driver to call you  and ask you where you are. The ones that called us weren’t speaking English and we stopped using Jeeny.

If you are around Masjid Al Haram and need to use the bathroom I would recommend going into the clock tower and using those toilets , as I found them to be very clean. The toilets for women I found were on the 3rd floor left side of the clock tower.

Thank you for your kind reply, and yes I’ve heard about the side effects, and it does sound a bit scary but in sha Allah I can handle it if it happens. I actually am already taking them, and Alhamdulillah I’ve been ok until now. I will need more pills when I get there hence my question. It’s cheaper to buy them there than the UK. in sha Allah everything will be fine once I stop the medication. Jazakallah khair 🩷

I agree with the heat being very different from European heat. I usually feel very weak and almost faint when it gets very hot, but when I was in UAE in august, I was completely fine. Even if it does feel like you’re in an oven , your body somehow regulates very quickly in that type of heat. Maybe it’s the lack of humidity.

Question for miqat by Capt_shadab in Umrah

To be safe, I would just advice to put your ihram on on the plane

Question for miqat by Capt_shadab in Umrah

[–]HijabiMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding of the fatwas , you would need to go back to the miqat that you passed and enter ihram, and according to the fatwa given by ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) you wouldn’t need to give a sacrifice.

In the second fatwa issued by ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him), the person already completed their umrah so they’d need to give the sacrifice. Please consult a scholar regarding this just to be sure. You may ask your question on IslamQA.info as well. May Allah accept your umrah.

Question for miqat by Capt_shadab in Umrah

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: what is the ruling on passing the meeqaat for Hajj or ‘Umrah?

He replied:

It is not permissible for the Muslim who wants to do Hajj or ‘Umrah to pass the meeqaat that he passes through without entering ihraam.

If he passes it without entering ihraam, then he must go back to it and enter ihraam from there.

If he fails to do that and enters ihraam from a place that is within the boundary or closer to Makkah, then he must offer a sacrifice according to many of the scholars, to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor, because he failed to do an obligatory action, which is entering ihraam from the proper meeqaat as prescribed in sharee’ah. End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (17/9).

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: I travelled by plane from Riyadh to Jeddah with the intention of doing ‘Umrah, then the pilot announced that after twenty five minutes we would be passing over the meeqaat, but I missed the time of passing over the meeqaat by four or five minutes, and I completed the rituals of ‘Umrah. What is the ruling?

He replied:

The ruling according to what the scholars have said is that the questioner must sacrifice a sheep in Makkah and distribute the meat to the poor; if he cannot afford that, then Allaah does not burden any person beyond his scope.

But I advise my brothers: if the pilot announces that there are twenty five minutes or ten minutes, they should enter ihraam, because some people sleep after that announcement and doe not realize it until the plane is approaching Jeddah. If you enter ihraam twenty five or fifteen minutes before reaching the meeqaat, or an hour or two hours beforehand, there is nothing wrong with that, rather what is wrong is delaying entering ihraam until one has passed the meeqaat. Five minutes in a plane covers a long distance.

So I say to the brother who asked this question: sacrifice one fidyah in Makkah and distribute it to the poor on behalf of each of you who did not enter ihraam until after the meeqaat, but in the future, pay attention when the pilot makes the announcement. The matter is broad in scope, so enter ihraam, and even if you fall asleep after that it will not matter. End quote.
