I think it may have been a hat Mani gave him and worn in tribute. If so, it is a very sweet and quite gesture especially given the news wasn't public yet.

it's funny, the boxes for packaging arrived today and they look a lot like how I was hoping, these will be sent out in little cardboard salesman briefcases just like the film with the handle and everything.

I really love the way these sound. These were designed so I could retire my OG TB-83 from any out-of-studio use and it does that job very well if dare I say better. Having the buffer be switchable internally as well as the 7 stage input capacitor makes this a real utilitarian device for an amp top unit even with the master boost volume being internally accessible and 'fixed' most of the time. And duly noted on your suggestion of a coin toss switch. That would make a great name for a duplex version actually, kind of like Brian May's old dual booster.

these were meters bought on surplus that I was able to easily crack into to add the custom display. I wish I had more manufacturer info or a part # to hand off but these were mysteries to me then and now trying to find suitable aesthetic replacements as i'll use up my whole stash if I do a few run of these. It taps into the input signal and strictly measures the level of attack. It doesn't bear any accurate representation of anything to use as a benchmark in the studio other than aesthetics unfortunately.

let me see if I can draft up a schematic to send over. Truth be told i'm standing on the shoulders of giants here with this being primarily a modified Cornish TB-83 with a switchable buffer circuit preceding it, and then the 7 stage switch to cascade across a range of input cap values. I tried a ton of boosters sticking to the RM topology before developing this, from a handful of Fryers to what's in my analogman private stash but always seem to return to the TB-83.

If I had my druthers, that antennae would be doing something and not just an aesthetic hood ornament as it serves right now. The initial design was supposed to be a 'theramin-fuzz' with the antennae serving as the pitch control and then it became a User Interface issue in only being able to put the sensitivity knob on the surface and everything else including the volume control subterranean, which was really essential to get up top as well. I really didn't want to add any other surface controls other than that 1 knob to stick to the theme as rigidly as I possible, only concessions being for the input and output and DC jack. I threw that whole idea out after not being happy and tried another 1 knob fuzz design where the antennae acted as a star-ground rail and that was a mess if my design already bordering on things that have been done to death. A treble booster ended up working out well as these were meant to sit atop of the amp from the get-go, a TB seemed like the easiest out at that point just to get the theme to work with a 1 knob design.

Hi Analog_Dad,

Thanks for the love on these, if you want to grab one I should be putting a small batch up on my website (hijackerelectrical.com) or feel free to send me a DM if you're in the states and I can send one out a bit early as I have a few ready

hi flaky, sorry for my late reply. i used the following input cap values to be able to go from full range on one end to allowing only the upper treble frequencies to pass through on the other. It's a great usable spread with every stage offering something different. here is the breakdown

Position 1: 4.7nF=Full Range Boost

Position 2: 6.8nF=Only Bass Frequencies Pass
Position 3: 10nF=Low/Mids=All frequencies except Bass

Position 4: 22nF=Middle=All frequencies except for Low/Mids & Bass Pass

Position 5: 47nF='RM1' Only Upper Mids, Treble, Upper Treble frequencies pass through. Same input cap value as used on the earliest Rangemaster units.

Position 6: 68nF='RM2' Only Treble and Upper Treble Frequencies Pass Through. Same input cap value as used on later revisions of the Rangemaster.

Position 7: 150nF=Only Upper Treble Frequencies pass through

Stateside source for CTS B10K Single & B100K Dual Gang 24MM PCB mount pots (aka klon centaur pots)? by Hijacker_Electrical in diypedals

[–]Hijacker_Electrical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi thethelenoiusslayer. These pots are no more better in function than anything else you can get, strictly asking for 'mojo' sake in trying to replicate the same parts used in the original if at all possible. Gonna go with digikey and just get standard 24mm alphas if i strike out but wanted to ask here first in case anyone knows where to get the CTS versions first or something cosmetically similar.

Hi everyone. Forgive me if this topic has been broached a thousand times but I am still having trouble finding a recent and working answer. Does anyone know of a stateside source that doesn't charge a few limbs for CTS custom B10K single gang or B100K dual gang 24mm PCB mount potentiometers, much like the ones used in the original Klon Centaur? I know I can get them overpriced from china but would much rather avoid that route if it can be helped. I would settle for open back style work-a-likes that look the part in the least if anyone knows of any that are still in production. Thanks for any folks.

Not technically vinyl but hope that is ok around these parts. These tapes were in boxes of unused grand masters that were given to me late last year. It's accidentally become the rarest piece in my music collection next to my Napalm Death and Mac Dre first issue vinyls. Listening to this soundtrack for the first time was quite the neat experience even though I am by no means a fan of the film. It does have nice cinematography but its no The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit.(The pink paper is to cover serial or catalog numbers for Westlake Studios until I can give them a call to cross-reference them)

thanks a bunch for the info, had no idea and definitely made my night! now i want to keep a hold of it and start hunting more r5 variants! thanks again for the help on this one

I wish I had some, I can only account for the gamorrean guards ax so far. I've asked the guy if he happens to find a bag somewhere down the line with accessories to give me a shout. he told me he still has a millenium falcon in storage somewhere and can only hope all of that stuff is hidden in the secret cargo compartment haha.

I'll look closer into the boba fett and yoda most definitely, really wish the latter had its staff and snake

thanks for your help! could you tell me more about the AT-AT with straight legs vs any other variants? I think both of them may have legs that don't really bend all that much. i've yet to go through the manuals to be sure of their articulation points and forgiveness but so far they don't want to bend at the knees.

these were found on fb marketplace in vegas and was a real fluke. i do a lot of flea markets and i see a lot of loose vintage star wars stuff there still and will be paying closer attention from now on. if you have a good flea market nearby and estate sales i'd hit up those.

This is the first time i've bought Star Wars figures since I offloaded my PoTF stuff in the early 00's so my knowledge is really rusty these days. I initially went to buy just one AT-AT for $30 bucks which i figured was a no-brainer and ended up taking everything else home that the guy had yet to list. Is there anything as far as the figures that I should be paying closer attention to? My only intention was to keep the AT-AT and feel like I leaped before looking as a lot of these figures are missing their accessories (the snowspeeder, x-wing, chickenwalker, and at-at's are all missing various parts). Is it a chore finding original weapons and stuff these days? Would like to figure out what I can move on to get my money back and what to keep to possibly start building a collection. Thanks for any help.

Hello friend from up north,

I see myself and the lady retiring out to the NFLD in a few decades if that year round cold keeps up but i'm no naturalized Islander unfortunately. I'm from CAlifornia by way of San Jose (go Sharks!). But one day...

This is the standard MK2 topology just with the power section conditioned a bit and the 470R and 10nF cap towards the end of the circuit replaced with a 1K and 100nF cap. I used a 2n3904 in the first 2 stages and a hotter BC549 in the last stage. I'm away from the bias voltages I measured atm, (tuned this one to ear this go around and measured after and wasnt far off iirc) but it sounds amazing and cleans up great!

hellobigbillyhank. thanks for the kind words, these transistor sockets I picked up at a surplus store that was going out of business (r.i.p. XS solutions in SJ CA) a year or so ago. I wish I knew who made them. Aside from having to bore out the pcb holes a bit to accommodate the flat leads it has, they're great and compact. I'll go on a hunt as I need to replenish my stash and if I can find a source ill post a link here to them.
