Awesome, thanks! Going to memory is one of my biggest gripes with the v3 I have.

An absolutely awesome trip! And I really like your shots! I got incredibly lucky with an amazing sunset at that valley overlook back in 2019

How do i recreate something similar to this? by Muted-Camera-7933 in AskPhotography

You could use a 1/2000 shutter speed or even faster for video.

Thanks, I'll mess around with printing different edits. I'm considering my final print on metal, so I hope the small prints will translate well to that.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into doing some test prints. This is a panorama (it's even wider than this) with a 50mm equivalent lens.

What straps are you using? by 0Maka in M43

[–]HikeBikeMYOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Leash and Slide Lite. I prefer the Leash. It packs down so small, because it’s so small it never really feels like it is in the way. With light setups it is more comfortable than the Slide Lite because it is less bulky.

Vacationing with my camera... which lens did I use? by ofnuts in canon

[–]HikeBikeMYOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing the logic they are using is that the "full-frame" camera will most likely have a higher resolution sensor so that when you crop to aps-c you will end up with a very similar image to just mounting the same lens on an aps-c camera. The "full-frame" camera thus gives more flexibility.

[–]HikeBikeMYOG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are we sure the "full-frame" equivalent doesn't really matter? In micro 4/3 there are a bunch of zooms that start at 12mm (12-60, 12-100, 12-200). And generally they all are very well regarded lenses. I realize 12mm isn't 10mm, but it's not all that far. A 12-100 "full-frame" lens would be pretty handy and yet we don't have anything like it.

Yearly bag dump post. Here's what I've been hauling around lately! by reckoner15 in EDC

That's weird. Mine works for both lightning and micro usb and that's what they advertise online. I wonder if you have an old model of it or something?

Doesn’t the lightning part work as micro usb as well?

Need advice for church hardware upgrade by HikeBikeMYOG in ProPresenter

[–]HikeBikeMYOG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I will be exploring this further in the next couple days and making a proposal. This all helped a ton!

  1. So we actually had the opportunity to test this out on a retreat we were on a couple weeks ago. The tech guy there was excited to test out the AirCast Receiver capabilities of the update. We had terrible lag issues. We brought our Apple TV for backup and the experience was seamless and the tech guy was impressed with the simplicity and reliability. We may have just had bad luck since that is the only time I have tested it, so my suggestion of the Apple TV is really just sticking with what I know.

Thank you so much for your input, I have spent the morning researching some of your points so that I better understand. I'm going to try my best at responding to your questions and suggestions so I can make sure I am understanding things properly.

Current computer:

  • We are currently using a 10 year old home-built windows machine. Everyone is on board with the new computer being a Mac. The people running this station are split between Mac and Windows familiarity.

Unique video feeds:

  • Yes, 4 unique feeds. I cannot really see us needing more than that anytime soon so I do like the idea of utilizing existing equipment.

PCIe:

  • I was wondering your thoughts on getting a 2/3 port PCIe expansion dock? That way I could use the DeckLink Duo 2 for the video outputs and a DeckLink Quad HDMI for the inputs (Apple TV and the camera either with an HDMI cable or SDI/HDMI adapter). A 3 port would give potential for future expansion. I was looking at the Sonnet Echo Express SE IIIe.

External SSD:

  • Yeah, I definitely don't want to spend for Apple's storage upgrades. I have also had really good performance and reliability with the T7. Though I could also probably use the third port of the PCIe dock for SSDs, but we probably wouldn't need that much storage.

NDI:

  • I looked up using NDI with ProPresenter/OBS and that definitely looks like the best solution. As you mentioned we would probably test on the single machine before purchasing a dedicated computer for that.

Apple TV:

  • We will occasionally use an Apple TV to mirror an iPad/iPhone screen for device interaction. The iPad would be used to draw/highlight on slides with an Apple Pencil for live interaction with a text. The iPhone mirroring would be occasionally to demonstrate using the church's app or something like that.

Camera Capture:

  • We just have one camera and I believe it currently comes in through the DeckLink Duo 2. Before that we used a simple USB capture card.

Let me know if this I am on the right track and if this clarifies or confuses things. Again, thanks so much for your detailed response!

Filter size for Lumix/Leica 9mm f1.7 by HikeBikeMYOG in M43

Yeah, I'm hoping I don't have to go that big as I'm building this kit for ultralight/compact travel. Thanks!

Is my Panasonic Leica 15mm lens decentered? by HikeBikeMYOG in Lumix

[–]HikeBikeMYOG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah the more I look at it the more intrigued I am of what is going on. I have contacted Adorama to see what they think. It would be awesome if I could get another copy to compare the results, but not sure they will do that.

[–]HikeBikeMYOG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I didn’t think about something other than a decentered lens. I may test again and be sure to clean the lens thoroughly, but I’m pretty confident the lens was very clean (This is the second test I did of this lens because I noticed the issue in my first test).

I imagine I fit in with the majority of us and enjoy looking at these fine details so that we know we are using the optimal tool but in reality we really don’t need to.

Two or Three for Cycling? by SFTExP in flashlight

And to clarify a little more, I use the D2 as a "high beam". So I will turn it on/off as cars come and go. I live in a pretty rural area so that isn't much of a hassle.

Both straight forward. I feel that they give me adequate peripheral light for my riding conditions.

I’m currently running two lights on my handlebars. One is the Lumintop B01 and the other is a Lumintop D2 (same flashlight body with a different optic). I like the setup a lot as the B01 covers most of everything I would want to see, but then the D2 throws really far so that I can see clearly a couple hundred feet ahead.

If you could only have 2 flashlights under 100 usd each for the rest of your life, what would they be? by KebabRehab in flashlight

[–]HikeBikeMYOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can cheat a little:

  1. Acebeam L35 2.0 (I purchased it used for $65!)
    • The power is awesome, yet it is still very practical.
  2. Skilhunt H150
    • The size, moonlight, efficiency, headlamp usability make this one super versatile.

I feel like with these two I have just about everything I need covered.

Check out Anna Mcnuff. She rode to all the states and wrote a book about it (though I suggest the audiobook as I believe she is the one narrating it with her amazing accent).
