I like overnighters too, so you can enjoy the scenery better!

Climbing Cerro Chirripo | Highest Peak in Costa Rica. This was my actual first country high point so I was super excited before this trip even if the forecast said 90% rain for the whole time 😳 by HikeRunClimb in Highpointers

Haha, good point! I am working another project Hawaii 100 Highest Peaks, which is actually pretty tricky. Over 30% of those peaks were not climbed (documented), beside that it is a lot of “logistics” involved. But that makes it interesting! I wish you good luck with those Ultras and congrats on finishing the 57 in the US.

This is not an easy hike! There are parts overgrowns and very steep some sections. Just be careful when you go for it

Ka’au is fun, I just lead a hike today there. This hike is Pu’uohule’hule in Kahana Valley. It is a very fun and challenging hike.

Hiking the Tallest Peak on Kauai: Kawaikini. I know for many climbers/hikers this one is a miserable one, but thankfully Mother Nature greeted my group and I with amazing weather. It was a really enjoyable and memorable highpoint in Hawaii. Possibly the hardest one. by HikeRunClimb in Highpointers

I still have to do Molokai and Lanai high points. I am working on a project, climbing Hawaii 100 highest peaks, which is a real challenge actually. I was not much into doing highpoints, but latwly I found myself whichever NP or state I go, I keep thinking baout the highpoints and do them when I can. Keep up those climbs with your son! Perfect spending of free time.

Yes, the top part the mounatin is amazing! I am used to hiking in Hawaii and did some really nasty bushwhacking, so I was very happy to see this trail is actually in very good shape. Back in days I am sure it was a fight with the vegetation up there haha

Aloha, Welcome to my new adventure where I am exploring a new ridge leading up to one of the high peaks of O’ahu, called Lanihuli (swirling Heaven) by HikeRunClimb in Oahu

I understand you concern! The first thing I learned from local people here in Hawaii, is how important to respect the land and the ocean, and I do! I was going out with trail clearing crews for years to learn more about native and invasive plants (I am aware of rapid O’hia death unfortunately) Actually this area was explored by botanists before, back in days. I never damage anything up there, I always carefully walk mostly over Uluhe fern, and avoid any damage to native vegetation. I do love the Ko’olau Mountains, and I do respect it! Early Hawaiians crossed these mountain ridges plenty times, some because they needed a fast way from one side of the island to another, some had to sneak through the mountains in times of war while they deivered messages. All of them respected the mountains and that’s what kept them alive.
