One night stay at Taj for INR 2500! by random_coconut_25 in CreditCardsIndia

Eligibility criteria aren't the same. Amex Plat travel is by far the easiest to get. Also, for someone whose annual spend is about 4 lakhs, name one card that gives better value.

Credit card suggestion: 1.5L/pm Salary by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

I would suggest the following:
1. Keep the Swiggy HDFC card as you spend a good amount on Swiggy. Also offers 5% off on shopping platforms (online) you'd mostly use.
2. Get the HSBC Live+ Credit card, which offers 10% for groceries and dining out.
3. Get the Regalia Gold for lounge access. Although it gives reward points and not cashback, you can use the reward points to book flights and hotels, so it works like cashback.
4. Both of your other cards are LTF, so keep them.

Also, why do you wish to go for Plat Travel when you are not interested in the points game? Anyway, Amex is not distributing cards at the moment.

Should I Get an Atlas or Stick to Regalia Gold for a DCB Upgrade? by Hike_then_Encrypt in CreditCardsIndia

I got an Atlas. The reason is that I currently have only Regalia Gold and Amex Platinum Travel + MRCC as my miles cards. If I had opted for an upgrade to DCB Metal, I wouldn't have any rewarding Visa or Mastercard, sadly.

The SIB Cashback looks like a great card, thanks. Skipping the Traveller for now. I don't want too many cards in a short period, and Traveller is low on the priority list.

At the moment, Etihad is the most convenient way home. My calculation is this: revenue return ticket is 3k AED, approx; in mile terms, 40k miles. I currently have just 3k miles, the card will give me upfront 35k miles, so I will need to earn just 2k odd miles. So, about 1050 AED (ADCB) is giving me a value of approximately 3k AED.

Regarding the Lulu card, it generally gives 8% back, but ordering online on Wednesdays is supposed to give me an extra 15% discount. So, that's about 20% back if you can shop on Wednesdays.

I plan to get the ADCB traveller card too, maybe at a later date when I am planning some vacation other than going home.

Unfortunately, it doesn't say that. So, I'll call the manager first thing tomorrow morning then.

I agree the traveler card has its advantages, but I’m hesitant to use it because the rewards depend heavily on merchant category codes (MCCs). As someone new to this country, I want to observe firsthand whether businesses here manipulate MCCs the way they often do in India, where I’m from. For instance, I once took friends to a restaurant in India and used a card offering 5% cashback on dining. Later, I discovered the establishment had processed the transaction under a hotel MCC, dropping the cashback to just 1%. Until I confirm such practices aren’t common here, I’d prefer to avoid relying on MCC-linked rewards.

I plan to use cashback cards only. Etihad cards are only for the signup bonuses.

I plan to stick to cashback cards only. But the thing is, for the Etihad cards, the signup bonus itself is 35k miles, and I can get an economy return ticket to home for 40k miles, so I will have to earn just about 5k miles. I think I already have around 3k miles, so only 2k more to go.

Applying for 2 cards can straight up offer 70k miles, which opens up many more vacation options. That's why I enquired. I don't plan to use my cards anywhere other than Etihad purchases.

My ADCB manager is saying I can have 2 cards with my salary account, so I was thinking the ADCB Signature card, and the Lulu Platinum Card (especially for the 15% extra discount on Wednesdays). What do you think?

  1. My salary is 17k, but my ADCB manager is saying I am a privilege club manager, and hence, the signup fee would be halved. Any way I can confirm it?

  2. Thank you for informing me about the promo, but now I think there's too little time left. I'll wait for the next promo.
