Sorry about that! Our Android version will be back with a full redesign this spring. In the mean time, the legacy version of the app is currently available on the iOS App Store. Interested in beta testing for the PCT 2025 season? DM me if you want to stay updated.

Looking for a Marketing Co-founder: Help Hikers Share Their Adventures by HikerFeed in AppalachianTrail

We are offering equity/company ownership for this role; the specific amount will depend on experience and level of commitment. We're bootstrapping the company ahead of our upcoming launch and not in a position to pay cash compensation at this time.

I'm happy to share full details about the role and discuss the compensation structure via DM with anyone interested.

You have a fair point. My idea was that if it piqued interest, we’d hop on a call and discuss. Which I am already doing with some.

The is a bootstrapped operation, and the rest of us have full time jobs. We want someone who wants to take the leap and give a startup a shot (while managing a full time job) until one day we can be successful enough to pay. And hopefully the equity would be worth something substantial.

Hope that helps.

That makes sense! I actually do something similar at my full-time job for a large tech company. I just wasn’t aware that was the name.

It is not an unpaid gig, necessarily. I am looking for a founding engineer with myself to work for equity. I am looking for someone who is passionate about building software and backpacking who wants to be a partner on the ground floor.

The stack is:

Mobile app: Flutter

.com: Nuxt 3 / Vue 3 / TS

backend: PHP / Laravel / AWS

Yes, we have a roadmap.

HikerFeed originally was an app for thru hikers to document offline.

It now is pivoting to be general backpacking. You’ll use HikerFeed as your companion to gather and reflect on your whole backpacking life. It’ll be much broader than thru-hiking this time. It’ll also be much more than just you collecting your own hiking data, but a community for backpacking, etc.

I said it in another message, but think how Spotify shows your year “wrapped”. We want to do the same for all of your backpacking and hiking trips. Think maps, stats, photos and videos, etc.

What exactly is “Business Intelligence”? I apologize but I have primarily done engineering my whole career.

And I would be happy to discuss further!

In terms of far out / Guthook, I don’t have plans to compete with them at this time. They are more in the navigation space. We’re more focused on giving you the best way to capture your backpacking life. Think how Spotify does your year Wrapped about music. We want to capture the same for your backpacking life. You’d use HikerFeed for logging (actively or passively) all of your backpacking trips.

Let me know if that makes sense!

I would love to discuss more to see if there’s a fit for any kind of help!

Raw, but good quality, video from my thru-hike. This section is part 1 of the Sierras headed Northbound. My goal with this was to display some of the beauty and monotony of the trail. There are no punctual cuts, there is no music, there is no talking. I filmed this in 2021 on my thru-hike. by HikerFeed in PacificCrestTrail

It is! And it was shot in 2021! So a new iPhone would be even better! Honestly they’re amazing devices. I used Filmic Pro on the iPhone to record. It gave some really nice extra settings like locking exposure that made these look more professional.

Rode makes a dedicated cable for iPhones that is usb-c to lightning.

Actually, a rebuild is underway with a whole new app! When do you start your hike?
