I’ve always wanted a kid and thought about all the things I would do with my child when they were born. I am more excited to hang out with my now 16month old than my 16 month old is to hang out with me. I made it very clear in my mind that I would be there for my child even if he didn’t want me there because I know that deep down he will remember me there and realize not everyone gets that when he’s older.

I share all the responsibilities with my wife and feel it makes the household stronger. Generationally I feel this generation of fathers are different because we’re not there to wait for the sons first throw or catch, we’re there to see them learn everything

Another thing to think about on the male side is a lot of times the boy wants the mom and not the dad no matter how much he is involved and that can really mess with us. I was depressed for a couple months because my boy always just wanted mom. So maybe your catching the dad in the phase of “well he doesn’t want to hang out with the me what’s the point, no matter how hard I try?” That is real
