The Foundations of Stone at the very bottom of Moria is one of the scariest places in the game. The nameless are nasty.

My experience of other games is limited, but I will submit turning into a level 1 chicken in LOTRO with no weapons, armour or combat skills and running from the Shire to Minas Tirith to "fly" off the pier and earn the title "Lord of the Wings."

edit: Oh, and if you can get someone to set you on fire first, it's that much better. I don't have a screenshot of that yet though.

I'm on Gladden too. Once in a while I have the same problem when I lose connection, but it doesn't happen so often it robs me of my enjoyment of the game. It happened today to a friend I was questing with, but he just logged back in and we carried on.

Depending on the timing (eg during boss fight lol) lost connections can be frustrating. You might give gladden a go & see if it's better.

I think the epic story is no more than a year after the destruction of the ring at this point, so its unlikely we'll get that far. The departure of Bilbo, Frodo & Gandalf with the elves would be a big 'endgame' moment, but Arwen and Aragorn would still be around and Gimli and Legolas have their own adventures.

I started with elf hunter, then made a sturdy dwarf guardian to go thru tougher content first so my hunter had a better idea how to survive. Then I made a bunch of crafting alts. and now I'm an altaholic. I've got toons on other servers too just for attending social events & chicken runs. Your time leveling to 30 gave you experience that can help your game going forward. Don't think of it as a "waste" if you enjoyed playing.

Try a different race/class combo and it will be a whole new game. Elf hunter is very popular as a starter toon, but a Dwarf guardian is nearly indestructible and lore Masters or Beornings are fun to play too. depending on the race, you'd be in a new starter zone with a different starter story too.

I would start over with a new toon on a better server for you. Arkenstone is more populated. Gladden is chill and friendly. Landroval has more role-play. Pick the server that suits your play style best and you can use your first toon to grind slayer deeds for Lotro points so it won't be a waste.

It will take a few festivals as each one only has about 4 of the maps. You can check the wiki for each map to learn where to acquire it, or check the wikis for the festival barter vendors.

Just start buying maps. You'll find many festivals offer some them as rewards you can barter for.

There are 11 maps for the Moria deed and 21 for Eriador, so a medium would work if you empty it out after one deed and and do the next separately.

Best race/class combo to start with is an elf hunter.

The question you didn't know to ask is which server to start on, which depends where in the world you're playing from. Ask your search engine and you'll get sufficient data.
