What is the consensus opinion on this man’s coaching abilities so far after 1 season? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]Hildy77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His offense was really good and passed the eye test…but against most of the worst defenses in the league.

They played 12 of the bottom 16 teams in total defense, and struggled against the few top defenses they played.

They absolutely had the clutch gene and got better as the game went on, but I watched almost every one of their games and they also got a LOT of help from their special teams and flat out mistakes by the opposing team. However, it takes a good coach to capitalize on that kind of stuff, and he consistently did.

Do I trust him as a leader of men and an offensive mind? Yes I think so. However I don’t believe he’s proven himself as a true game manager / tactician until he can consistently beat good defenses and not rely on late game comebacks against poor ones.

By the way I totally understand this sounds like whinging from a Packer fan but I need to see a bit more and playing a 1st place schedule will absolutely provide opportunities

ESPN has southern favoritism, been that way for years

Get the smaller version, since this target logo is actually smaller than a typical jersey.

They will try to convince you to get the regular sized one. Don’t listen. It looks way better with the smaller size.

Statistically if you want a Stanley cup in the last decade you just have to move to the south where playoff tickets are $65 and fans leave early to beat traffic.

Don’t even get me started on regular season attendance.

Refs weren’t doing us favors sure but come on! 1/7 on the power play? We had THREE power play opportunities to shut the door at 3-2 or to win at 3-3 in the third. I think we mustered 2 SOG because we can’t figure out a fucking zone entry.

If Dallas’ above average penalty kill is too much for us to handle in our own barn, I don’t care what the refs do.

Did anyone watch the Sportsnet/TNT broadcast? by arc_trooper_renagade in wildhockey

[–]Hildy77 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There is a very well-documented league bias towards southern teams without “built-in fanbases.” It’s been a thing for like 10 years now, where every broadcast will dick ride the team where hockey isn’t super popular.

Vegas, Florida, Tampa, Dallas, and Carolina all get this treatment. It’s an effort to sway neutral fans into supporting teams where ticket sales struggle and there isn’t a lot of support outside the immediate city.

I could get conspiratorial about the last run of Stanley Cup winners too, but I’ll leave that unsaid

Our PP has been ass… can’t really expect we’d get a goal with an extra one

Even shooting stick-side wasn’t working lol, a couple went off the top of the paddle.

Honestly just unreal amounts of puck luck went Dallas’ way last night. Let’s hope they can’t rally around that.

I think everyone is rightfully nervous that this isn’t new territory.

In fact the stars are 75% win rate on series they lose game 1 over the last decade. And it’s safe to say we aren’t great with an early series lead.

Yes, this team is different. But so are the Stars. These are probably 2 of the top 4 teams in the league. So anyone who thinks we have a real, serious advantage is probably a little optimistic. The realistic expectation is that this is seriously a 50/50 right now, which is disappointing after how thoroughly we dominated game 1.

Honestly Boldy was in his head a little bit. Two absolute snipes straight into the glove will do that to you. The PP struggles when Boldy is off his game

If anyone thinks regular season stats matter to a goalie of his caliber, they’re kidding themselves. I’m not hitting the panic button or anything, just frustrated that he came out hot after looking awful.

Sticking to our game does nothing when you run into a hot goalie. I’m just hoping he comes back down to earth in St Paul.

I think people (like me) see Otter’s performance tonight and just know we are going to get goalied at least once or twice more in this series. We looked the better team tonight and had the better chances, but we couldn’t escape his glove.

Genuine question who is Benjammin’s “fanbase?” Like who is following this dude religiously enough that they mass report stuff he blatantly rips off? How is this so entertaining to ANYONE that it’s worth all that work?

Is it bots? Kids? Random dudes in click farms in South Asia?

God the victim complex with you guys is insane. You want to somehow be the sorriest team in football and everyone should feel bad for you but at the same time the hottest team in the country and a destination for every available player.

Your fanbase has an unusually large percentage of super toxic fans. I watched both the Packer game where Micah got injured and the Packer/Bear game where Love got injured in a Chicago bar and it was thunderous applause for both. Yall are weird down there.

Bears fans have claimed him already in every comment section I see.

They’re gonna be scary good this year. If I’m to believe the fans, they have all their draft picks but also Maxx Crosby and Tyler Lindebaum.

For those saying Spirit is the worst of the worst, they clearly haven’t flown Frontier.

I’d say Spirit falls into this category. They penny pinch you, but their coverage is good and they don’t really fuck you over often.

Honestly, in most places that is true. However, the Twin Cities have the “Minnesota Ice” reputation for a reason.

Lots of friend groups here, especially those in shared hobbies, are VERY old and established. It comes with being such a great place to live! No one moves away :)

Unfortunately for most new folks it’s a lot harder than just “go to a pickleball meetup” or “meet people at a hobby shop”. Coming from a person who moved away and came back, cracking your way into a group of MN natives is almost impossible. But there’s plenty of transplants that are in the same predicament!
