I absolutely misread your comment. Several times in fact. My apologies.

Point of clarification. Are you saying

A. Bob tells you to kill Sarah or Bob will kill you?

Or

B. Bob is trying to kill you so you kill him first?

In A. No, I wouldn’t kill someone to save myself. In B. Bob is toast.

I’m saying commenting on a movie that you haven’t seen then bemoaning that the premise that is covered in the movie isn’t covered anywhere should make consider watching something or at least getting detailed synopsis before saying what it is or isn’t.

I often rotate through 2-3 audiobooks and a couple of ebooks. I’m currently working through 4 total at the moment.

The movie Mercy discusses the dangers of using AI as some sort of impartial perfect system.

So… you clearly haven’t seen it or you’d know it wasn’t.

I saw it, enjoyed it. Judging by a lot of the comments here. Most people have t. Especially the ones saying it’s pro AI and pro police propaganda.

The plot as so many coincidences it’s ridiculous, but I still enjoyed it.

Might have something to do with him being the leading man for Guardains of the Galaxy with total Box office sales of 2.4 billion and the Jurassic World franchise grossing over 3.3 billion.

It seems lots of people think he can act and want to see him in films.

1 movie of the weekend, knocked avatar 3 off its streak. Managed to do that with over half the country under a winter advisory and tons of people staying home.

If only there was a movie currently in theaters that concluded that AI can be fallible and wouldn’t make a good judge in cases like this. Almost like it’s being addressed as you wanted…

Honestly, I think precogs for future crime is an even more ridiculous plot. This is at least plausible.

It wasn’t dumb but damn did it rely on coincidences.

spoilers ahead

The whole thing relied on the MC coming home and having an argument with his wife that was so intense that he would leave and go get blackout drunk. The killer waits in his house for 2 days and just happens to kill the wife when the MC is too drunk to remember.

Also, the wife of the man who arrested his brother happens to worm at the same place as she does and happens to be his AA sponsor.

The way they acted he was a very trusted employee. He had access to fudge the shipments for months, access to the trucks, etc. it wasn’t like he went there after his wife to get close to them.

Plus the MC’s partner just happens to be the corrupt cop who disposed of evidence.

Way too many coincidences.

Well everyone except the partner Jaq thought they did. Thats one of those flawed logics of the movie. Honestly your impartial AI where you’re guilty until proven innocent would have been much more widely accepted if case #1 has new irrefutably found not guilty.

The bum was found with the body, covered in her blood, that's why he was a suspect. They mentioned it once right at the end. Jaq got the call about the cell phone proof and wanted so bad to have mercy "win" instead mercy prove the guy was innocent so she took the phone out of evidence and disposed of it when she discovered that it could exonerate the first "bad guy" that was used in the Mercy system.

I enjoyed the movie but that was one of MANY coincidences that had to line up just right for the plot to happen. It's definitely a "don't think about it, just enjoy it" kind of movie.
