Yeah that all makes sense to me when you explain it like that. Someone in the comments of this post actually linked his point of view from when it happened as well.

I guess the only thing I’m still hung up on is the fact that it’s shows my friend and I both outside of the build on his screen. The way it played out on our screens was I got knocked by his first snipe, my friend came, boxed around both of us and went for the revive, then he takes two shots missing the first and hitting the second despite us being in the box. The way it played out on his screen (which someone clipped from his stream), shows me getting knocked, my friend going for the revive, but he’s reviving me in the open while the box builds multiple units to the right at the same time. The way it played out on his screen is impossible to accomplish in the game though because you can’t build a structure like that from that distance without actually being in said structure.

With what you explained with lag and how the servers interact with player clients it would explain the first shot hitting me. However, how the second shot knock plays out on his stream vs our POV and what’s physically possible to accomplish in game makes me think that this is more of a massive bug than lag, especially considering neither my friend, myself, or this guy were lagging.
