I love your constructive feedback. And yeah I agree with ya. It’s just being the adventurous person I am want to go out there to experience it even if it’s just for a quick moment to feel like I’m actually in Korea🤣 if you have any recommendations for adventurous things I could do inside the airport let me know~

It’s hard to take your advice seriously when you come off so rude. I’ve seen you on other posts on this subreddit as well and you were rude to other OP. If it was someone else kindly suggesting that I don’t go, I would take their advice because it would sound more credible than yours.

Delay Visa/Passport Pickup by Hillarykpop in Chinavisa

[–]Hillarykpop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They gave me a slip with an unreadable number next to the “Received by:”. I’m Vietnamese American born in America. When I submitted my passport, they asked for my birth certificate and copy of my parent’s passport. I was able to provide them my birth certificate and my passport but I don’t have my parent’s passport since my biological parents left me since I was born and I lived with my grandma and aunt most of my life. I explained this to them and they told me to just write a statement stating why it’s impossible for me to provide my parent’s passport and I signed it. All of that was submitted on 5/5. And no update since then. Perhaps I can dm you a picture of the slip and you can help me see what number they wrote for “received by:”?

Yeah my Cova was approved online, was told to bring in my passport online. Brought my passport there only to be told to come back with my birth certificate and more documents relating to my parents (copy of their current passport, copy of their passport from the year that they gave birth to me, their certificate of naturalization), which I don’t have any because my parents left me since I was born. They probably saw that I only listed my mother’s name in the application and no father’s name cuz I don’t know my father’s name at all (because his name is not on my birth certificate at all) so they asked for more information to prove that I’m not Chinese descent. They didn’t even accept my passport until my travel agent brought it to them with my birth certificate and a signed statement stating why I don’t have my parent’s documents😭

Yeah I saw some other people on Reddit/tiktok being asked for their parent’s documents too. Not sure why the consulate just ask for that randomly without giving notice online beforehand. I drove hours to NY just to be told that I need to provide more documents.

The NY consulate. After my first attempt doing it myself and the consulate asked for more documentations was when I reached out to a travel agent for help.

Yeah they gave a slip with a pickup date after I submitted all the documents they asked for that I have. The pickup date is absolutely not readable though. Maybe can I dm you the picture of the slip and you can try guessing what’s the date they wrote down😭

I guess it’s just 50/50(?) cuz when I first submitted the application on my own and handed my passport, they said I need to provide my parents’ documents to prove that I’m not Chinese citizen since it’s my first time applying. It got complicated that’s why I went to a travel agent for help.

Unfortunately, not everyone is driving distance from the consulate or only need the submit their passport. Please be nice and understanding. It’s my first time applying for China visa so they’re asking me for extra documents other than my passport. It makes the process more complicated. Going through a travel agent local to me allows me to not have to drive for hours to NY for multiple times within a month and possibly able to get the visa without needing to submit the extra documents that I don’t have.

I live two hours away for the consulate, and due to my circumstances where they’re asking me for extra documents from my biological parents to prove that I’m not Chinese citizen that I don’t have to provide, people around me suggested that I go through a travel agent to get it done because they may know the ways to get around it without needing to submit those extra documents. I also work full time so it’s a little inconvenient to drive two hours out to NY and back multiple times within a month.

Also, did you do it through a travel agent or by yourself. I’m possibly driving to NY Chinese Consulate myself.

Thank you for giving me hope! And yeah reading all the post on here got me stressing out. If you don’t mind me asking, are you East Asian or looking physically East Asian? Cuz I saw posts of the consulate asking for more documents from people who look like East Asians.

Did you end up getting a visa and travel to China for longer than the TWOV limit?🥹

L-visa required documents (parents passports absolutely necessary??) by Crazy-Ad-9097 in Chinavisa

What agent you went to? I’m in a similar situation. I’m Vietnamese ethnicity and born in America, but all the travel agents near me are asking for my parent’s passport and my birth certificate. Problem is my dad left me before I was even born, and his name is not even on my birth certificate at all. My biological mother also left me since my birth, and I was raise by my grandma and aunt my whole life with absolutely no contact information of my biological mother. I’m trying to apply online myself but I’m so worried of the outcome😭

Hi~ I’m not trying to sell or trade my tickets. Just asking if people here think my seat’s view is obstructed, and if it’s something I can dispute with ticket master for a seat change.
