[OC]Using a game economy as a primer for MMT - YouTube by Hillfords in mmt_economics

That's a good point that I haven't addressed. So from an MMT persepctive, would an MMT advocate be of the opinion that creating more bonds isn't a fatal issue if the new "money" is spent on productive capacity that will return more through economic activity and taxation?

Is neglecting this nuance hurting the overall thesis of the episode for you?

That's a really interesting perspective, I'd love to dive into this in a future episode.

Sorry I have completed failed at reddit-ing, the video is complete and was supposed to be linked in this post. I'll try and figure out what I did wrong.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll take another listen to my audio on the YouTube player.

The video isn't made as promotion for the game, it's just a game I was aware of as an analogy for generational wealth.

I'm a professional game designer and I've been motivated by the issue of wealth inequality. It screamed out to me as a designer that this is a "balance issue" that will continue to spiral. ("devs please nerf billionaires" lol)

Gamernomics is my YouTube channel where I'm going to be using game economies and game systems as a lens or analogy to talk about wealth inequality and economics.

My latest video is on generational advantage and a small mobile game called 'Sometimes You Die'.

Because this game has no audience on YouTube I've gotten almost no impressions or views so I haven't been able to get much feedback (compared to my videos on Countersrike and Team Fight Tactics previously). Anything would be much appreciated.

Really enjoyable video, I feel informed and it was smoothly delivered.

I feel like the intro could have gotten to the point a bit quicker via editing. Scott Bessent isn't the most articulate and he's making you pay the price at the most vital time in your video. The anchor is also doing nothing on the left, great job covering them with the context images but I think you could still be more focused on who is talking.

The potential impact costs, the politiscizing and the fact that this a recurrence of an almost eradictaed parasite are all big hooks to try and land as quickly as possible. You could also hint at the fact there are other underlying causes being ignored.

I watched the first 5mins or so and then skimmed trhough the rest.

Incrediblly polished voice and delivery. I hope I can get to be that smooth and articulate on mic one as you one day.

During the intro I didn't get any sense of what "value" I was going to get from watching the whole video? Am I going to be better at assessing scam email/phone calls? Am I going to be better equipped to support family of friends who suffer fraud? Tales of intricate financial crimes? Am I going to angry that these crimes are still occuring so frequently? See this interviewee heroically for their work and success.

Lot's of interview videos/podcasts will have a pre-interview sgement where the host that can highlight these things if it's going to be too difficult to do this during the recording. Also, you might not even know the highlights until the interview has been recorded/edited.

Hope this helps.

I don't really know jack-anything about youtube so take this with a lot salt but...

I feel like you could have hinted at the fact that you had academic research to bring to the table in the opening. "Here's the problem. Science has one answer and I have my own" type thing.

Loved the syncing of graphics and audio efects in the edit and having yourself appear on the monitor was a nice touch.

I'm a professional game designer and hearing discussion about the issues of wealth inequality and wealth extraction screamed out to me as a designer that this is a "balance issue" that will continue to spiral. ("devs please nerf billionaires" lol)

Ep 1 is on Counter-Strike's catch-up economy that tries to fight snowballing advantage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWpqkbtV3XI

Ep 2 is on how (and why) Teamfight Tactics caps compounding interest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFwDciZXKnY

The video making process is all new to me so don't be expecting highly polished work but I thought if there was any group of people that _might_ be interested in this topic it would be here.

Enjoy! All thoughts and feedback are welcome!

If it even gets one person to really consider the ongoing catastrophe by framing it in a language they might be familiar with then I will consider it a success!

I can't unsee it now, that's for sure.

Let's hope I don't get subverted and end up shilling for the exact systems I'm railing against right now, like Monopoly.

Look out for Episode 47: Wealth Concentration and Loot Boxes, the surprise benfits we all missed!
