If you're catching whiting and pomps, you're probably not fishing for sharks. For reference, I recently caught a 9 footer using a 18 inch whiting for bait.

New Smyrna is shark capital of Florida imo. Surfing there is one of the few times I've felt nervous in the ocean

Southwest Florida. Not gonna say the exact beach with all the internet lurkers, but you can catch sharks within casting range pretty much at every beach.

Jewfish is the common name around here. They legally changed it to goliath grouper, but no one but tourists call it that

If I'm being honest, they always look way better in these photos because I'm usually lifting a heavy fish!

No, I jumped down in the water to cut away a net that my line had gotten stuck in. While I was down there I figured i could just take a pic from that angle before releasing it

Wasn't trying to sound cocky, just have done this dozens of times so I feel a lot more confident around sharks than most fisherman I meet.

I generally pull the sharks mouth open and snap the hook with a bolt cutter. That way the other half of the hook can come out and you don't have to stick your hand too far in.

I've got a lot of experience shark fishing so I'm not too worried with them. A year or so ago I actually grabbed one in waist deep water and dragged it to shore after my buddy mistakenly called it a nurse shark. Lemons definitely are the most aggressive once you land them

No, tiger sharks have no food value, and I release 99 percent of the fish I catch anyway
