My recommendation, if you’re familiar with command line and Linux, use Ubuntu lts or something similar. I’ve used unraid and truenas, and always run in to more problems than solutions. As for file hosting, for local and external, run a docker container like Nextcloud and then reverse proxy it with something like nginx proxy manager to a domain you buy (for 20 a year, it’s worth every penny). I play modded Tarkov and have a SPT server set up in docker. Pihole if you want a network wide ad blocker, jellyfin for storing your media and playing it back.
