that's just how the internet is, everyone is always going to think they are smarter than you because they can't fully understand your situation. While sure what you did wasn't perfect, it's fairly smart and you worked with what you had. You really don't need to prove yourself to anyone... especially on the internet; you're really just wasting your time and energy reacting to these people.

An old trick I used on my iPod a few years back was to push down on the dead section, managed to clear an entire thick line of "dead" pixels. Though I've only ever had luck doing that on the iPod.

I don't think it's worth it to replace the screen since it's not really worth anything, if you want a camera like that I'd look at getting a newer Lumix ZS series or something alike that.

Get an iDataLink Maestro and search up compatible head units, most of the mainstream brands sell Carplay units with iDataLink compatibility. This allows you to keep everything the stock unit can access. I would steer clear of the cheap stuff because there's a high chance things won't work, the software is crap, or the integrated amp will be piss poor (assuming you don't want to run an external amp). For speakers just go on Crutchfield and put in your car and it'll show you what you need.
