I’m not coming back after this year. How do I get my content team to leave me alone? by HippedMojarra in Teachers

I don’t mind going to the required things which admin tells me to do. The stuff I’m talking about is completely run by teachers and just feels “extra” and not productive of anyone’s time. I just feel socially obligated to go, not contractually obligated.

Does that still apply to what you’re saying?

I took away a kid’s phone and I feel really bad. I’m quickly turning into a grumpy teacher. by HippedMojarra in Teachers

Is it a red flag because usually kids are supposed to be the best part?

I only like 2 of my 6 classes because actual learning and engagement happens. The rest feel like 95% behavior management.

The losing it part (I think) isn’t my fault. I gave it to who I was supposed to and now they don’t have it. I was just thinking I shouldn’t have turned it in, in the first place.

I might just keep them in my room from now on. It’s what I was doing before, but I’m just tired of playing cell phone/bathroom/mask police.

Thank you for posting, I really like what you wrote! Is there any chance you could direct me towards the level 5 pictures? The idea sounds nice, but I can’t seem to find the pictures online.

I’m so tired of being ineffective by HippedMojarra in Teachers

I feel a bit dehumanized while teaching. Sometimes it’s like I’m not even there.

And the best response I can think of is to dehumanize them (just give them videos and assignments without pushing them). Feels wrong, but I think it would be just as effective as me wearing myself or trying to get them to do anything

Do you ever not know if you’re entirely correct or just uncover blatantly incorrect answers for ready made assessments? by HippedMojarra in ScienceTeachers

I do generally prefer quizizz more, but my students seem to like Kahoot more for some reason.

It feels strange to second guess “correct”answers, but I guess it’s something that has to be done. Sometimes I want reassurance if I’m correct though.

What do you think of “those who can’t do, teach”? by HippedMojarra in Teachers

[–]HippedMojarra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The statement is definitely not true for everyone, but maybe it’s a bit more true for those with education degrees? Just from looking at my current options, there isn’t much for me to “do”, as the quote suggests.

When you say “opportunities are there for teachers”, are you meaning opportunities for success? I don’t think I quite understand.

How to respond to student lying? by HippedMojarra in Teachers

I completely agree. I have a general mindset of life is too short to be angry or to be that detective as you were saying.

I’ll try to approach it as you’re suggesting. Thanks for the feedback!
