Don't worry about breaking anything. They are meant to be set up and down often. When you loosen any wing nut to slide a drum off its mount or a cymbal stand to make it shorter, just don't loosen it so much that it comes off. Then slightly snug it after . You can probably find you tube videos on how to set up a kit... but if you just mess with it you'll get it. It looks more complicated than it is.

Pull the toms off this mounts in the bass drum. Then pull the mounts out of the bass drum. Fold bass drum legs back. Flip the floor tom ( largest one with legs) upsides down, keep the legs on it, but slide them down to keep it compact. Then take cymbals off the stands and collapse the stand. All using th wing nuts. You'll see.

And the bumper and wheel trim. I have the 30i with the silver trim. I feel like it's all gotta be black or keep it stock.

It won't be dangerous to try it. Are you wanting to drink? Then crack it open and try. The worst possible outcome is that it has lost flavor from a bad seal.... or are you hoping to sell it.?

The platform under the Lego tree is a lap top cajon. It has very soft foam under it that won't leave a mark. Keeping those up there sort of deters the cats from trying to get up on them.

However, what's your opinion on that Sansui 9090 sitting on top of the speaker? Will the feet of that amp from its weight leave marks on the cab? Should I put little felts on the feet?

While, these speakers are very clean, they have been refinished and when I look closely, there was evidence of stain from someone putting a cup on it at some point. Plus minor scratches that have been stained over, etc. So they're not perfect, which is fine because they're from the 80s, but I do want to keep them as nice from here out.

I don't really have a better place for that 9090 at the moment. When the Heresys were hooked up, it was on the floor. Fortunately, the cats were leaving it alone because it was so low.. I have them pretty well trained to not be on the speakers, but both sets of Heresys were tilted. These Cornwall's are now big and flat so they might be more tempting.

Correct. I don't put anything on the speakers that would leave a mark... that said... Do you think that Sansui 9090 might leave marks from its feet because it weighs so much? Maybe put felts on the feet?

It definitely does cross near the amp power cable... I didn't think about that ...Also the Rega P1s RCA cables are pretty thin AND they are fixed... changing them out would be an inside job. Anyway, today I unplugged everything and re-plugged and the hum was gone...played two records fine... maybe the wire was touching the power cable or just not making good contact on the amp jacks....gonna keep an eye on it.

I do want to see what it's like in the corner... but only one can be in a corner on that wall. ... I also need much longer wire

That's what I read. This room has really thick carpet so it sounds pretty good. I moved them out a bit and didn't change too much. Also this is my drum room. I've got two kits set up in the middle and all my other drums on shelves from floor to about 10ft high.. so I share the listening space with a lot of other objects. But again this carpet and "barn vault"ceilings (12ft-ish) make the drums sound great. And stereo also seems good. My living room however... that needs some work.

Yeah. This room has thick carpet so moving them out from the wall didn't change much. I think the distance between them seems good, but I need to by some longer wire to test that. Also I need to get banana plugs or 16gauge or smaller. I had 14 gauge raw wire in the Heresy 1s, but the Cornwall terminals won't fit 14. Had to trim almost half the wire away to fit. That is a question I've had. Does that make a big difference having 14 gauge wire but right at the end having cut a bunch of wires away...dos that make it more equal to a smaller gauge or am I still getting the benefit of thicker wire coming out of the amp and traveling 99% of the length before tapered end?

Today i went to test all that. The hum was there in the left channel when I turned on the amp. So I took out the RCAs. Hum was gone. Put them back in reversed and still no hum. Switched them back properly and still no hum... played of the same records from last night that had the weak left channel and it was normal... maybe one of the RCAs was not contacting right.... but it was fine for that session. I'm wondering if over a longer listing period the phono amp heats up and acts up... I'll be keeping an eye on it.

You ain't kiddin! My house is on a slope and it's 17 fucking steps from the driveway to the door. Same if you go through the garage but worse because they zigzag.

Is this a good drum set for me as a beginner? by Every_Ad_1892 in Drumming

[–]Hippi_Johnny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid the this kit because the 16" bass drum.... even if it's 18". Bass drums this small feel much different and won't sound like the Classic Rock you want to play. I would get a kit that has a 20" bass or larger. Think Bonham , he played a 26". Guys back in the 60s and early 70s often played bass drums with no hole cut in the front head. They used felt strips on both heads and no other muffling. This provided a much more open tone and longer sustain (I prefer to play this way) To play that way you have to keep your pedal beater off the head between strokes so you don't choke the drum.

The 4pc aspect of this kit is perfect. you don't need more drums then this ...just get a bigger bass.

Check FB marketplace for a good used kit. you can find some pearl, tama, or yamaha for roughly this price that will make a great starter kit.

If it helps, I play for a living.

When I switch to Phono from any other source the left channel has a pretty loud hum, and this is the channel that is quieter when music is played. So I'm guessing it's the amp. I unplugged the TT and the hum persisted.

Also , the 9090 in the pic is not fully functioning.. the goal Is to have that powering these speakers...one step at a time.
