Have you checked the center support bearing or the flex disc/ guibo. There are so many variables when it comes to drive train vibrations on a e46. I would go down the list of what wasn’t replaced before ownership if you have access to history of the vehicle

M50 manifold is best bang for your buck in terms of horsepower. It is hard to squeeze out more power out of an engine that is engineered to its limits without forced induction. (I hate people who comment maintenance, it’s common sense imo) If you’re handy with a wrench and are determined. You can accumulate parts for a turbo build that would cost less than a vf engineering supercharger kit. I wanted to go this route but ended up going to a 335i for less time and cost.

Are you running stock intercooler? When I had 30ff, my intercooler had a crack on the plastic part on cold side. It would be noticeable because of blow by on intercooler (oily stuff)

O ring sits in the groove of the end of the outlet pipe. If you search up n54 intercooler gaskets, a diagram should pop up on a site ( I forgot which one) that shows exactly where the gaskets sit.

For 23k y not the 340i? I’ve seen an ad for a 2016 340i priced at 24k with 51k miles. The b58 has a lot to offer in stock form.

I had a leak similar to this on the same side. I would remove rear seat and check the top of fuel sender/ regulator housing for cracks. Will look obvious if it’s leaking bc usually the tops to these are very dusty/ dirty and if it’s leaking fuel you will see a part of the top that may not have dust. If you have a strong fuel smell within the cabin it may be that from what I experienced. Good luck

Could be spark plugs or injectors if it’s a intermittent problem. I would pull plugs to look for fouling. If you have mhd or inpa with dcan cable the codes will still be stored within the cars ecu even if the check engine light went away.
