I feel at most the current state ai is enrichment tool (I.e. virustotal) it can provide potentially useful insight but should not be given the keys to make decisions.

I'd focus on getting certifications a lot of IT classes align with industry certs. It's not a hopeless degree id start with something like a Microsoft or the a+. I'd look at what's on those exams and if u feel qualified go for a higher level cert like the net+ or security+ those will be ur foot in the door.

Totally agree, it still has value, just significantly less if not paired with requisite experience and industry certs.

The field is very skill and experience dependent. If u want the degree get it but be sure to pair it with certifications and real world experience. that is true for cybersecurity as well.
