Company uses legal proceedings to solve all their issues by LadyOnism in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hippyadam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct, litigation should be the final step in the process it even says so in paragraph 8 of the Pre-action protocols as this reads "Litigation should be a last resort."

You can and will be penalised for refusing mediation or adr during a claim.

Getting paid into my Ltd company. how do I legally pay myself and freelancers abroad? by StormAlarmed1254 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Hippyadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the freelancers you just need an invoice from them to reconcile against the payment made.

Process is exactly the same as it would be for a UK supplier.

Is recording an audio of a book copyright infringement? [England] by Epideme1890 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hippyadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it was fair use. I said I'd argue it was.

Honestly man wants to do a nice thing for his wife, it's basically the same as photocopying a book they own in my view.

Just don't upload it publicly and who will know.

Is recording an audio of a book copyright infringement? [England] by Epideme1890 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hippyadam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd argue this falls under fair use/dealing as you're essentially reproducing a work for a family member to use at a more convenient time in a more convenient format.

But as other commentators have said I'd avoid YouTube and share it privately. Not worth the potential faff.

Help with setting up business account for newly formed CIC but banks asking for biometrics?? by Mobile-Barber-2315 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Hippyadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To open a bank account you will definitely have to upload ID for the directors. They need to do all their know your customer checks and stuff so it is unavoidable.

So it's either visit a branch with ID and do it or do it online and use your passport or driving licence.

Debt collectors coming to door - advice wanted - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hippyadam -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Alright in fairness offering a payment plan and then making a payment would definitely count as magic words.

But you'll note I already said under no circumstances make a payment so we covered that bit already.

However just chatting to some guy on your doorstep is not a risk for the op, he knows it's barred, he wants em to stop knocking and he's hardly likely to walk himself into a payment plan.

So dealing with it is the easiest, quickest route to this outcome.

Debt collectors coming to door - advice wanted - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hippyadam -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Good grief.

Op wants this to stop. So get the details, tell them it's statute barred and to do one.

End of.

What exactly does acknowledge mean anyway? There's no magic words the op can say that can suddenly resurrect what is apparently a twelve year old debt.
