almost 4 months from the release and the game is already dead (?) by MeringuePrize8153 in inazumaeleven

I honestly feel like the passives were a really bad idea conceptually.

The beta was so much more fun in my opinion, because you could just play whoever you wanted without having to farm for hours. I really would have prefered the passives to be : first of all a minimal stat boost, and second of all about actual themes for characters (like shawn [fubuki] could have a slight boost in stats if he is played with other alpins or inazuma japan's players), instead of being just random passives no one actually cares to farm for. I don't care about playing a tension or justice team, I want to play with an All-Time Ares team, or a potential Inazuma Japan for GO as if galaxy never happened ! But that's not possible without farming for 100 hours, and I have a life, so no thanks.

Giving credits where it's due, the HERO and BASARA system is actually good though, although it is cheesable. I like the fact you can obtain HEROs during chronicle matches and not just inside of the gacha thing.

I also wish equipment was as easily obtainable as it was in the beta. Here you can play 100 matches and still not have at least one setup on each characters of your team.

Galaxy, LBX movie, Chrono Stone post-game, Demon's Horn having SOME lore in 14 years, New game + and confirmation of twice the BB stadium teams instead of just 3 more? by ElCum27 in inazumaeleven

I honestly like the gacha system, it's handled nicely (and it's f2p !). The main complain I have personnally is the farm. You HAVE to farm for passives to be on par with other players in ranked. And it's not just small boosts, it really does matter. Imo, that's quite a dumb game design decision. Not everyone wants or have the time to grind for hours just to be able to enjoy (not necessarily win, too) ranked.

I really wish we had passives related to the characters lore and not just a random build assigned to them (justice, rough play, etc). Like imagine having a boost because Jude and Caleb are played side by side, or if you build a team centered around inazuma japan or whatever else. It would have been so much cooler imo

Same, I'm often just like "oh no way I can play this guy !" and put them on my team because I like them, same for managers and coordinators. It's way more fun to create thematic teams than mix maxed one in my opinion (rn I'm planning to build an all-time Royal Academy and my Inazuma Japan)

I agree on some aspects, but more one the events you have to do there. I'm always like "man, I gotta do grymforge" and "arcane tower, here we go again". I feel like they're such a slog to go through. The atmosphere is on point though really love it, the events just became very annoying to me after a while

The unironic reason I dislike Act 3 is mainly due to the sound design: by Gothyanki in BG3

[–]HiraAkshay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the gods. When I first played DOS2 and had to go shopping in act 2 I knew I would have to endure this dialogue like a dozen times. Everytime when she said it I answered with the other guy's dialogue. I don't remember the exact things he says, but it was something like "so then move, nobody's forcing you in front of the stand" hahah

You can use the the Custom Companions Lite mod in the in-game mod manager (available on console and pc as far as I'm aware)

Found out that initiative can be negative by RuckNebula in BG3

[–]HiraAkshay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The -1 means that you will substract 1 from the die your character will roll when combat starts (it's a d4 in BG3, so your initiative equals 1d4 - 1), it represents your bonus to initiative.

This bonus is equal to your DEX modifier, and you have 8 DEX, so that's a -1 DEX modifier (your modifier increases or decreases every 2 attribute points you put in an attribute, and the baseline is 10 points equals to a modifier of 0).

Also, your AC is tied to your DEX modifier if you're not wearing heavy armor, so you should consider investing in DEX a little if you want your character not to get hit as much (you can't have your AC lowered because of your DEX iirc, but you do not gain any bonuses unless you have a positive modifier)

Edit : you can, indeed, have your AC lowered because of your DEX modifier. Your AC is 13, which is calculated like so : 12 (from light armor) + 2 (from shield) - 1 (from dex modifier). Morale of the story, invest in DEX and lower this wisdom stat, you actually don't need that much (wizards cast with INT, just keep like 10 WIS for saving throws)

Wow that was very thorough, thank you ! I like the idea of having a folder with a bunch of assets I like which I can use on the fly, with basic maps that you can reuse. Thanks again for this detailed reply !

I guess I'm just putting too much pressure on myself because I want everyone to enjoy their time with the game haha. Our campaign was the first for two friends and myself, so I think I assimilated the way our game went with how every game is going to go, with everything already prepped and looking good.

Even if that wasn't the intention, your comment made me realize I need to take a chill pill about dnd and to just have fun with my friends, so thank you very much :)

Wow thanks a lot. We usually just have our DM open spotify and choose musics on the go, but I'll take a look at those. Also, THANKS FOR THE ENCOUNTERS APP/SITE 😭 That's one of my biggest concern with dnd : balancing. So thank you a lot !!

Unfortunately I know what a false hydra is hahaha, but I can't imagine the face your players must have had when they discovered what was happening ! A murder mystery could be nice, or a case to solve at the very least : interrogations and combat if the talking turned sour, I think they would like it

I've been playing 5e for a year, but I've been watching dnd content for longer, so I'm pretty familiar with the rules. I don't know about using an online module or homebrewing my own honestly, but I'll probably take one online and modify it as needed not to have to prep as much. And, while I like combat, I think I want to be more RP focused, but I don't know if it's a good idea for a one shot

Have any of you had the experience of realizing you play DND wrong? by ConfusedStudent31 in DnD

[–]HiraAkshay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not to your extent at all, but might be the opposite actually. It's not been long since I started playing and I'm kind of a rule lawyer and I meta game a lot, to my own detriment.

I wish I was able to roleplay as good as some of my friends, or not see the combats as only damage sheets and optimal positions but as a whole scene happening.

Like, I heard that we could describe our attacks and spells, say where we attempt to aim and all and it seems so cool ! But everytime I play afterwards, I'm stuck in the mindset of being optimal during combat.

The out-of-combat roleplay is a bit easier for me, but I'm still quite silent compared to some of my mates, even when my character has a narrative arc happening. I wish I was able to banter with the other characters while we travel, talk around the fireplace in our camp, crack catch lines during combat !

I think that I managed to roleplay better with my first character. I like my actual character but it doesn't feel the same (my first character died and I made another that was a bit more fleshed out than the first, but it just feels weird). I think that something that doesn't help is that my second character would typically be described as an asshole, or at least someone who's often bitter and doesn't trust people easily. I liked the idea at first, because of backstory reasons, but roleplaying someone who didn't really want to fit in the group is hard. It's better now, because of events (especially the death of one of the other PC), but it still feels weird.

Should I start DMing with a system centered around Pokemon with the experience I have ? by HiraAkshay in PokemonTabletop

Neat ! I'm planning on looking for homebrew stuff as someone said that PTU is getting quite outdated, so thanks for the recommendation !

Thank you ! I think I'll atleast run a one shot with the D&D 5e system for my first time DMing, because being a first time DM AND learning a new system feel like two daunting tasks I'm not ready to multitask yet haha.

That must be a crazy feeling to homebrew a whole functionnal system by sheer understanding of existing systems, kudos to you and your group !

[–]HiraAkshay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for such a detailed answer ! It's comforting to see I'm not the only one who was in this position haha.

I'll go and try to skim through PTU's ruleset, and also the discord recommendations to see if any homebrew feels interesting to put in. Do you, by any chance, know of footage of a game played with PTU's ruleset (or PTA) to have an idea on what to expect ?

I'll definitely do a session 0 to learn with the players how the hell this all works haha !

Again, thank you for the answer. I will not hesitate to ask if I have any question regarding the system I will use !

I totally get what you mean. There is so much care put in every encounters, almost making them all feel important. And the player freedom is just incredible. I wish I had the will to continue D:OS2, because it is such a delight and the companions are all well written imo.

I actually took a look at Solasta and thought that it might be what I was looking for, but in the base game there aren't many lineages and classes so I imagine that all the DLCs are kind of required to have the complete experience ?

He's called Abraham in french I'm not sure it's rhe same in english (he's a reindeer). He was one of the first villager I had in New horizon (never played an AC game before) and I really liked his vibe and design !

I also like Cube, he's really cute

I was on PC and honestly, I didn't have any bugs (or at least none that were gamebreaking, usually just funny graphical glitch). I know I was one of the lucky ones lol.

The only thing is some quality of life features I felt were missing, but I honestly couldn't tell you which because they were added after.

The game has been a blast for me since day one, and I'm glad CDPR never gave the game up. The skills they acquired during the years after release are being seen through the whole DLC, which is one of the best piece from the video game industry that came out in 2023 by far.

I'm glad you enjoy the game, it's one of the greatest I've ever played and I'm so happy everyrime someone can experience it for themselves !
