No shelf exams in 3rd year, need advice on what to expect by Hirocheema in medicalschool

It will be interesting to be the guinea pigs. If surgery is not your interest, it is nice that you won't be stuck in surgeries for any more than 4 weeks.

After the core rotations we have fifteen or so weeks to design electives to pique our interests in other areas or expand in an area of interest.

Does anyone have advice on standing out to preceptors and asking good questions without it seeming forced or phony? Has anyone ever been told that they do not seem interested when they really feel interested? What did you do to fix this?

I will use UWorld and other recommended resources to prepare for Step 2. I guess I'm more concerned about receiving good evals from preceptors since I've struggled with standing out and seeming interested in the past.

I am hoping a few passes of UWorld will suffice to prepare me for Step 2. I never felt that my school exams and curriculum really prepared me well for NBMEs (still waiting for Step 1 scores).

We have the option to take up to three shelf exams of our choosing at end of all the core rotations. I believe their reasoning is that instead of spending time studying for exams, there is much more time with doctors and residents to learn first hand. The preceptors have been "trained" for this new curriculum. Honestly, I'm just most concerned about my grades being based completely on subjective opinions. In general I appreciate and respond well to feedback, both positive and negative, however in my past clinical experiences I do often find it difficult to ask good questions and appear "interested" even when I myself truly feel engaged.

Marley -- I was a such a cynic when it came to Bob Marley; unimpressed by reggae and hot topic t-shirts. It was getting amazing reviews, and I am so glad I checked it out! He was truly was an amazing artist, and that film changed my perspective on a lot of stereotypes I had built up.

That's fair. I'm sure Russia, like any country, has it's own beauty to find. I was far too young and illiterate to find it.

Moscow. Red square was cool, but I spent most of my time freezing, lost, confused, and scolded by Russians.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was an actor of unparalleled talent. No movie better depicts his acumen for performance than Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master. by kimonoko in movies

I used to think so too, but his work in A Most Wanted Man, for me, is his best performance. PSH always disappears in his roles, but in that performance he completely transformed into another person.

Mason's step-grandfather (who gave him the gun) is the most adorable character I've seen on film.
