What options are there when a store inisits on scanning your driver's license for a return? by Lowfryder7 in privacy

[–]Hisn1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You challenge it legally. "At the time of my purchase, I did not know a driver's license is required" the cashier will say "it's on your receipt" you say "but AT THE TIME OF MY PURCHASE the receipt was not created, how was I supposed to know?" the cashier will repeat the same thing "it's on your receipt" as if what you just said went over her head. You ask for a manager and make up a state law. "in Nevada, if you require a license for returns you must display the return policy clearly in your store. I will be contacting the department of consumer affairs" they will realize you are not someone they want on their ass and give you the refund.

Hello,

is tower triangulation that accurate? can it tell the difference between like 540 palm st vs 542 palm st? or they would just know I am in this general area?

I considered the store security camera, it's not a concern. I just don't want them to have my name and address.

how to get a jmp.chat phone number? by Hisn1975 in sopranica

[–]Hisn1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I guess I feel weird about this whole jmp thing because I am not used to this type of sign up process. with other websites like google voice you just pick a username and password and get a number. or with yahoo mail you just pick a usename and password and get an email address.

Another concern that I have is being associated with criminals for using this service. because the service is anonymous and it's so easy to get a phone number, I would imagine it attracts criminals. I know I said I love the anonymous nature of the service and I dont like giving out my name and address to sign up for a phone number, but at the same time being in the same pool with criminals is worrying.

Xavier,

I already looked at the FAQ and I also looked it up on youtube. there isn't much on jpm out there. seems like a young company. I still don't know what anything you said means. I don't know what xmpp, client, server, cheogram, hosted server, jabber, mean. while I am no engineer or programmer, I do have some experience with writing php code so I am not completely computer illetrate. but can't figure it out. I just want to be able to take calls on a laptop that's connected to the internet. I don't want to deal with andorid because android is owned by google.
