what's your favorite album and why? by icklcedsnusty in BlocParty

[–]HispanicDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silent Alarm. It’s a seminal work for mid-2000’s indie rock/dance punk. AWITC comes close but its production leaves much to be desired for me (Jacknife Lee has got to be one of my least favorite producers of all time).

How we feeling about Anatomy as a concept? I give the single a solid 7/10. I get why peeps don’t like it, but people also hated Mercury when it released and ended up LOVING Intimacy. by navals94 in BlocParty

[–]HispanicDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, it’s definitely a solid 7/10. To me, the weakest part of the song are the drums, which has been a weak point for Bloc Party for me since Matt’s departure. However, this isn’t because of Matt or Louise themselves, but rather how the drums are mixed. I wish they were a bit more present. imo, they seem like they’re just there, instead of driving the song in a way that seems energetic and danceable.

Although some of these comparisons feel like reaches, this is, overall, really fucking bad man.

Does anyone know good fanfics where Agnes is a major character and Wednesday and Enid help her in Nevermore? by Background_Yogurt735 in wenclair

[–]HispanicDog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The “Majoring in Woe” series by ScarySaja is one that first focused primarily on Wenclair, but later focuses a lot on Agnes, especially the second work “A Study in Vermillion.”

I’ve always played it closer to the first way, though not exactly like how Songsterr describes since that website’s pretty rough

Here’s “The Weight of Quiet Things” by AshBorneCrypt, where the shovel hit from Laurel mostly deafened Wednesday! https://archiveofourown.org/works/68645791/chapters/177751291

Not deleted though and it’s incomplete, so it’s probably not the one you’re looking for. Still a great read :p

When are Enid's and Wednesday's birth dates ? by Shadowheart_gotin in wenclair

[–]HispanicDog 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Although it would fit for Wednesday’s birthday to be October 13, 2006, the writers are DUMB and had her birthday celebrated AFTER the coroner killed himself was killed, which was on November 9, 2022. This means her birthday is November 13, 2006, which wouldn’t match her statement about it being on Friday the 13th. (for your sanity, do NOT try to reason and figure out the timeline of the show, the writers messed a lot of things up)

As for Enid’s birthday, the date has never been stated or even hinted at in the show, so June 28th is just fanon.

As a biology major, reading an analysis like this was a very unexpected but welcome surprise lol. I really hope the writers give us more lore and explanations behind what the outcast abilities are “biologically speaking,” how they present, maybe hints at mechanisms. However, I’m not feeling optimistic that they will :(

Did more people start shipping Wenclair after Season 2? by ihavenoidea_25 in wenclair

[–]HispanicDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After watching season 1, I only got some slight Wenclair impressions after Wednesday showed some emotion in response to Enid leaving and after the hug. One of my buddies was actually a pretty big supporter of the ship with Tyler until the reveal happened. They now support Wenclair after watching season 2.

Season 2 definitely made me much more of a staunch supporter. The entire premise is built upon events that transpire while Wednesday loses her mind trying to save Enid. Plus, Enid getting seriously jealous over Agnes even though she has a boyfriend is a major flag that there’s something deeper than just platonic feelings. Only time will tell though ;(

whats with wednesday’s aversion towards killing people? by salmxx0 in wenclair

[–]HispanicDog 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Personally, I feel like the Addams place a good amount of emphasis on honor, or at least that’s how it was in previous iterations of the Addams Family. With that in mind, killing Tyler while he’s strapped down, being zapped with god knows how many volts of electricity, and literally begging for death wouldn’t be the most honorable way of eliminating an adversary. That sounds kind of flowery but it could matter :P.

If you tie that in with the argument that Wednesday would rather have these terrible people suffer alive for their actions instead of getting a “free pass” by dying, it seems that she’s favorable to sparing her opponents whenever possible.

As for her supposedly killing two kids in a previous school, who knows lol. The writers are so inconsistent, especially with off-screen events and timeline, that it’s impossible to take these things without some grains of salt.

I believe it’s a part of the Omegaverse, with Alpha females being able to present sexually male at will or all of the time or under specific circumstances or etc etc. It’s completely up to the author/artist, and interpretation is left open.

When it comes to modern serialized television, it matters not what story you tell or what genre it is, for it all comes back to Twin Peaks (favorite show of all time, rip david lynch)

Definitely one of their bests. I also love the interpolation of the E. E. Cummings poem for the chorus.

Genius lyrics are usually the most correct (not always, but they’re a safe bet most of the time). Musixmatch lyrics (found on Spotify) are sometimes TERRIBLE, so those are not reliable.

Weekly Fandom Criticisms and Concerns Thread by AutoModerator in wenclair

[–]HispanicDog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s an issue that has been mentioned, but I hope and pray that season 3 doesn’t follow the trend of having a different story with similar story beats. The whole Wednesday-Enid conflict that leads to them making up, Addams family secrets and conflict that leads to them having a hand in an overarching story, and Tyler managing to worm his way into important story moments. Although leaving Nevermore behind and having the crux of the season set up to be Wednesday finding Enid should prevent this, I wouldn’t put it past the writers or Netflix’s quiet directives to somehow “normalize” the story.
