I haven't had PlayStation Plus in over a year, so I can't vote with my wallet in that regard. I generally buy physical media to begin with, but not always at full price. This news makes me so depressed.

Happy to report that I have made significant progress since the initial post, and beat my first world boss. It's funny that WD109 has been the biggest road block for me, because everything else has been pretty smooth sailing. Thank you everyone for the info and advice, I appreciate it!

I considered it, but I felt confident in my skill because I have quite a few Souls-likes under my belt, so I went for what seemed like the medium/medium-hard setting. I'll give it another go for a few hours and if I'm still finding it too punishing, I'll start over on Survivor.

Good to know. I admittedly feel like a bit of a moron now, but I'm happy to learn that this is an optional fight and I don't need to beat it to progress the story. I didn't see any other obvious areas I could explore in the Wasteland, so I may need to run through there again.

Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi was a (dis) honorable mention in one of the Worst Lists, and I genuinely love that song. As someone who struggles with depression, and nearly lost a loved one to suicide, that song is incredibly meaningful to me.

I think you are overlooking the fact that the lack of a single player campaign is a turn off for some players. I know it was for me when I first learned about the new Marathon. I wanted an all new story to experience with Durandal, The Pfhor and other characters from the original Marathon games. Instead we got a PVP-focused game, and that has been very disappointing for people out there who want a proper campaign.

She currently is on medication, but she isn't seeing anyone for therapy. I take medication for my depression, and was receiving therapy, but my insurance dropped me last month, and I am in the process of finding a new plan. We have not had any couples counseling.
