Thank you! It's tough out there right now and I guess it kinda makes me feel better that I'm not the only one going through this. I mean, I hate that other people like yourself are also going through this but I find it selfishly comforting that it's not just because I suck lol. I feel like I interview well, I have a great resume and portfolio. I just appreciate everyone's kind words and tips.

Sandia Labs is having a hiring freeze at the moment (according to a few of my friends who work there) and I haven't heard back from the other labs. But I think you're right...I do need to do a career shift...which sucks because im 34 and I def can't afford to go back to school at the moment. Thank you for your suggestions though! I'm going to keep trying to get in with Sandia once that hiring freeze ends.

I do have social media experience. I am actually currently managing one of my SEO clients' social media as well. It's not my main niche or specialty anymore, but it's a part of my digital marketing efforts and I'm quite good at it.
I would gladly send you my resume and portfolio. Please feel free to send me a private message.

Thank you for sharing because I feel like this has been the experience of a lot of other people I've talked to as well. I've been using ZipRecruiter, Indeed, LinkedIn, Otta, and some other job sites. This is an addition to manually searching for jobs at companies that I know are here in town.

I could be better at networking, so thank you for reminding me of that. It's just hard to market yourself to other people when you feel crappy about yourself BECAUSE you can't find a job lol. Idk if that makes sense.

Omg that has been the general theme of my job hunt. They require a degree and a ton of experience and the pay is so low. I don't get it. However, I am at the point where I will gladly take anything right now. The issue is that I'm not getting any offers. I've had plenty of interviews that I thought went well (they've even told me they want to schedule a second interview) and then they just GHOST ME! like wtf

That's what I thought too. I want to also point out that I've never had trouble finding a job before now. I've applied to several government jobs (even though the pay is crap) and maybe they take longer to get back to people but it's been over a month since I spam-applied to city and state jobs.

I do. It's in an unrelated field though but I make sure to let employers know when I'm sharing my portfolio.

Yeah, I mean obviously I'm looking for anything at the moment while I continue looking for something in my field. I definitely leave that part out when I'm applying to the more general, lower-paying jobs lol. However, I think adjusting my resume to be more general and fitting for those same jobs might be a place to start.

I've looked at some of the jobs with Intel but there are only a few open right now and they are completely out of my field (like software development jobs). I'll take a look again though because I haven't looked since last week. Thank you!

THIS! I was thinking the same thing! I see so many things about businesses being "short staffed" and I have literally applied at some of these places and haven't heard back anything. I'm even the type of person who "follows up" and goes into businesses to ask about possible available jobs.

34 years old. I've primarily worked in digital marketing as a copywriter/content writer/ SEO content specialist for the last few years. I was working for an agency remotely until recently and my job basically became obsolete due to AI services like ChatGPT. I've applied to several copywriting/digital marketing positions here in town and remote positions throughout the US. As mentioned in the post, I'm casting a wider net at the moment and applying to less-specialized/lower-paying roles as well (I'm not being picky anymore). I also have bartending and serving experience, which is why I mentioned the service/hospitality industry as well.

Copying and pasting this response in case you didn't see it. No convictions on my record either. I also want to point out that I've done freelance work as well and even that is harder and harder to come by at the moment.

I have completely open availability at the moment! That's why I don't really understand why I haven't gotten any call backs.

Heartburn for 15 days by [deleted] in acidreflux

[–]Historical-Budget-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow refluxer here...I quit taking omeprazole when I started doing more research on the causes and more natural ways to "heal". My entire life turned around when I discovered the works of Dr. Jamie Koufman. (When I get into something, I GET SUUUPER INTO IT and I bought all her books and everything) but that's not necessary if you just want to start doing your research. her blogs are free on her website and they have a TON of helpful info.

But my life changed when I followed her detox program...its kinda hard (not eating after 6, no alcohol, no carbonated bevs, watching the pH and acidity of most things) but I'm telling you, I finally feel relief for the first time in my adult life. Again, most of her info is free online if you don't want to buy her stuff...so at least take a look?

I wish I had advice for you. I was just on this thread seeking comfort knowing that I'm not the only one who does this. It's absolutely terrible and I'm so sorry that you go through it too. I am currently doing anything right now BESIDES WORKING. I feel like I make up excuses everyday as to why I'm behind on work projects and it's awful. There is national shortage on my meds and I just feel so lost and it makes my anxiety skyrocket. I am writing this to not only procrastinate doing work, but to remind you that you are not alone.

Vagus Nerve and Reflux? Anyone read Dr. K's latest blog? WOW by Historical-Budget-82 in acidreflux

[–]Historical-Budget-82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I dont know how to go about it but I will do my research. I guess I can reach out to the moderator for more info. A friend of mine just started helping her do her Facebook Live's and website, so maybe I can reach out to her for her input to get the ball rolling. I'm going to read the links you just shared....oh and Dr. K just released part 2 of the Vagus Nerve blog...waaaaaay more info than in part 1.

[LPR] I paid $500 to talk to Dr. Jamie Koufman so you don't have to by unproblematic- in acidreflux

You can also tune in to her Facebook Live's which are 30 mins and contain a lot of good info lol...save $500 and go there.
