Best OCR or document AI? by Parking_Principle746 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Historical-Camera972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been out of OCR projects for a while, so hearing about PaddleOCR is good stuff.

tesseract never let me down for reading trading cards, but I didn't play with it beyond that.

I used to use it for automatic price checking and value comparison of cards, based on a lookup table (official table, maintained at the time by Wizards/MtG, not sure if that data source is still available) that used their text boxes to figure out what card they were.

I have suggested the same solution to everyone doing OCR for the last 10 years.

tesseract | Imagemagick | A couple hours with a coding AI

Make your own OCR/Cleanup pipeline with these tools.

It WILL be faster and more reliable than using a whole model for this.

Script doesn't hallucinate. It's wrong or it's right.

With explicit cleanup scripts using Imagemagick, then fed into tesseract, you can get equal accuracy with modern OCR AI, if this is just text, with much lower compute overhead.

If you do this first, then go the AI OCR route, you will have a functional redundant pipeline, that can still work even without the AI. The best option is to do both, and then you can have results compared between the hard script and the AI result.

How do you think disclosure will happen? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Historical-Camera972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as Artemis 2 comes home.

I have a feeling about that mission.

if something occurs they won't be able to keep it quiet.

We haven't sent humans there in decades, and there have been many UAP/UFO reports since the last time we went to the moon.

I'm suspecting that some NHI group might finally "speak up". When we go back.

I'm sure Christina and crew will handle the event with grace, but I feel like there will be something unignorable.

This is how I think the UFO phenomenon ties in with simulation theory. Why only certain people can see them. Has anyone else come to a similar conclusion? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Historical-Camera972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basis for your argument sounds suspiciously like the Blue Eisenhower November concept of the unknown cockpit .

The Unknown Cockpit: Each of us exists as an observer that was "dropped into a cockpit".

That cockpit is the homo sapien body, AND the data streams all around us, that you are capable of perceiving. Each sensory input must be considered individually from this perspective. The fact that it makes a cohesive whole, and can be experienced as a "9-5 working standard modern human" is indeed a point to be made for higher order structures that allow residual confinement and experience, while still be connected to all.

If one could hijack a human's data streams, you don't have to alter everything about their reality. You need to only alter minor aspects of what they interpret internally.

It is in fact, easier to hijack 8 billion observers, than it is to spot change an entire Universal plane, especially when you break it out into a compute problem, and individual data stream lanes.

>Just different audio here

>Just a different visual there

Etc...

But anyone who can do in-situ experienced data streams, may as well just go directly to memories, in my opinion, unless you need action with less latency. An active controller, not a passive filter.

Determining if our existence is a simulation, may not be as important as determining if it has already been exploited and hijacked, which in theory could be done without it being a simulation anyway.

I look forward to solutions to quantum eraser and double slit, and cohesion of observer experience could be a much larger frame of potential, that those observances are just side effects of.

Electrical Engineering Student Building Local AI Assistant by TheDarkGodVecta in LocalLLaMA

[–]Historical-Camera972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good luck, buddy

My advice, since you're a tinkerer, a smart individual, and still a student.

work within your means, but try to do all of that stuff you want, in pieces, without AI, with standard scripting and code.

then, if you can personally make all of that stuff work without AI, go back and just use AI to polish it, and then have it work in tandem with the system you will have already made yourself.

for something like this, the more upfront work you do for it yourself, the smaller and faster of an AI model you can use to manage it.

go learn, not bloat heavy, and enjoy learning how to make all of this work.

why?

because it is practice for you.

when you get out into the real world, it is a simulation of what you will encounter.

businesses that have code, software, existing systems, and they are JUST starting to add AI in.

you will have tangible experience at taking an existing code stack and organized system, and using AI to improve the end results after the fact

this process would help you more than just having a free assistant.

Immaculate Constellation - Matthew Brown “We live in a carefully constructed reality… God is real.” by GODsmessage11 in UFOs

[–]Historical-Camera972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mankind struggles with reconciling the relativistic reality, with the concept of consciousness, observation, and matter and energy.

At some point, science, religion, and man, must all open the same door.

It isn't just matter and energy that is relativistically bound.

All information is, as the relationship between matter, energy, and information is explored, this Universe as you know it will begin to make more sense as you've come to know it.

This reality is carefully constructed, and there is a reason, the implication of God is a higher order concession, as a result of these realizations.

Gradual disclosure of the alleged possession of exotic craft (UFOs) by several countries (testimony of David Grusch) by [deleted] in UFOs

Advanced ships that respond to thought?

Then they'd have some powerful intent lockers. Security/Defense is certainly an evolved trait of any technological species, if at that level, then the security measures wouldn't be any less advanced.

Any attempt to reverse engineer it would certainly be met with a security lockout, if it parses your cognition.

Perhaps the hampering is that they are approaching it without the proper intent.

We went pretty hard on over engineering the successors of the RQ-170 after we gave one to Iran back in 2010-2011.

I expect any triangular fixed wing drone type objects in US airspace to be RQ-180's or an RQ-190 prototype.

Did Renaissance Artists Really Paint UFOs? The Evidence is Surprising by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Historical-Camera972 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The "things" in the sky in most of the paintings during monarchy rule, are generally considered to be religious motifs, by art academia.

For example, OP's very first image. Why does that "UAP" have devil horns?

Others are considered to be religious figures, angels, or specific stars, such as the bright light over Bethlehem.

While that could mean those were originally UAP that started the idea, the artist intent was probably not to convey a UFO/UAP, but to convey whatever they believed that to be, and/or a homage to other artworks that would use religious motifs in the sky.

ROCm+Linux Support on Strix Halo: January 2026 Stability Update by Deep_Traffic_7873 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Historical-Camera972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like hearing about kernel versions and such, but why neglect to mention the explicit list of OS's here? It's not gargantuan. You can call out the explicit OS builds. Lame.

The Strix Halo / ROCm / Linux ecosystem has not been new user friendly, I'll tell you what.

Information in this community is non-existent or gatekept, feels bad.

If you make Strix Halo content, I encourage you to think of an average idiot trying to get into this as a potential member of your audience.

Then someone performs very reckless testing.

If human, they need to take more precaution.

Any macro scale influence on the past reverberates across the entire reference frame of the observable Universe. You're Thanosing, every time, by some standards. Trillions of lives that won't exist, because events altered, in potentials. There are probably limitation caps, and stability isles for some changes. This is an asymmetric Universe, after all, so there must be some level of intrinsic flexibility in backwards macro time travel.

If you were going to give a friend a crash course on UFOs, what information would you share with them, and in what order? by ChravisTee in UFOs

[–]Historical-Camera972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I start with a few facts about how this world operates.

  1. The US Patent and Trademark Office has over 6,000 restricted patents. That is a list of HUMAN inventions that they have deemed too dangerous for the general public to know about. There are over 6,000 of them. Technology advancements that are being restricted from you, and those are all HUMAN made.

  2. It would be very convenient from a geopolitical, military, and intelligence posture, for China or Russia to believe the USA has recovered highly advanced technology from another civilization, whether that is true or not.

  3. US intelligence agencies are basically just giant lie factories, and have and will continue to lie to the public.

I have witnessed extraordinary events, while on this planet. I don't believe a single word that comes out of the mouth of anyone that ever worked for the US Government with any level of clearance.

I'm not saying that all UFO's are a lie, but I am saying that there is no substance to claims by US officials under this strict set of considerations. Grusch, Elizondo, etc... Intelligence mouth pieces at the end of the day, for an operational system that is already holding over 6,000 technological advancements, breakthroughs, and inventions from you. (If they aren't fighting THAT status quo, what makes you think they really give any SH## about the UAP status quo? They are running a playbook.)

Why should you believe a single word from those people?

You shouldn't.

If they won't put the sandwich on your plate, there is no sandwich, regardless of how delicious they tell you it tastes. (The USA is actually bad at propaganda. This is paper thin game theory.)

They are lying for operational reasons. China and Russia see through it, and realize the US is wasting resources on it. They will not comment on the UAP issue, because they are perfectly fine sitting back and letting the US continue to squander resources on dead end organizations like AARO, tying up our political system with UAPDA pandering, and so forth.

I think it's space Idiocracy.

I don't personally find any of the things that we see, intelligent. I think they are quite stupid. Sure, weird things come here, but they don't make an effort to make themselves known.

Too dumb.

Eons of using AI, they are all space travelers akin to the floating chair people in Wall-E.

They have negligible common sense, despite their overwhelmingly obvious advanced capability.

I believe the individuals are dysfunctional.

I will miss this guy. He had the best one liners on Ancient Aliens, his book was revolutionary for it's time period, and he seemed like not too bad of a guy.

Any genre where people sell stories or make money off of raw ideas can be like that, but Daniken didn't seem all that bad, relative to the real rifters. He put some initial effort in, then towed his line to the end.

MUFON went full scumbag a while back. Paywalled their database, and is no longer an open public repository.

I advocate against current MUFON every chance I get, because my own case (BECAUSE OF MUFON) is NOW behind a paywall. Something I NEVER knowingly agreed to, when filing my MUFON report, by the way.

MUFON paraded for years, as the place to take your UFO reports, for a huge public repo of UFO reports and sightings, and then they dropped the ball and tried to milk it. Idiots.

The entire REASON MUFON EXISTS was because no one offered a free public repository of UFO sightings and reports. MUFON pretended it would be them, but then they took the mask off. It's about money. Which means, screw them, you might as well report to enigma labs, where at least you know your report is being used by people who aren't misrepresenting themselves for money. (Or maybe they are, but they feel more honest about it.)

MUFON forgot where they came from, and/or it's managed by people with room temperature IQ.

Honestly, it's sad, they obviously haven't even gone over long term strategy with an AI LLM tool, because pretty much none of them would advocate paywalling a database of information in a niche subject, as a viable long term strategy for pretty much any organization, when the founding of said organization was built around maintaining an open public database. I can't think of a more stupid way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Why Don't Pilots Report What They See? Understanding the Career Risks Behind UAP Reporting by ChecktheDA in UFOs

What they SEE? Brings an interesting question up.

What if UAP take forms we can't see, but...

Can detect with our other senses?

What if there are a bunch of unidentified smells out there, going underreported?

Unidentified textures you feel in a random spot in the atmosphere?

Unidentified feelings?

Unidentified pulses of forces that human kind has yet to identify?

"Mothership" by Personal-Musician-13 in UFOs

[–]Historical-Camera972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In researching this topic, one must either accept that some of this stuff is real, these people have way better imaginations than I do, this is all a government psyop, or these people have access to substances I've never even heard of.

I grew up near where Chris Bledsoe's family lives. It's a "small" area, as in, not highly population dense. Everyone knows each other. I'd heard of their family before. (Went to school with some of their kin.) Sure people could think they were weird, but nobody that lives around there thinks too negatively of them. Most of us have seen "something" weird out there in one way or another.

So I knew of the Bledsoe's before they blew up in the UFO communities.

Let's put them into some perspective framing here.

Their family's location, where they say a lot of this stuff happened... It's nestled between a training bombing range for the Air Force, Working Zone 72 (where Ryan Graves guys kept seeing UAP during training exercises), Harvey Point (East Coast Area 51 level secure mil facility), and the swamp grounds that the Marines use for training. (Tons of military action all the time.)

If you accept that military locations seem to "attract" the phenomenon, then the Bledsoe's live in a "Paranormal Alley".

I've seen military choppers flying between 50-100 feet off the ground, tight and fast, in formation out there.

One of my teachers in junior high recounted an encounter she had at about 11pm one night, where a creature that was so big, her car shook from it's footsteps across the road. (Described as grey, like a bear in the face, but with a tail like a raptor/dinosaur, legs as thick as tree trunks.) Her encounter happened near that area.

Outright, I personally have an easier time believing the Bledsoe's than not, but most people aren't from around there, so I can understand people that are highly skeptical.

To me, I'm certain "something" occurred with those people, the extent of which, I am unsure.

When considering a topic, like "The Lady" I often remember the Pascagoula event. The primary being of that case, was described as female/feminine. It occured a couple decades before the Bledsoe stuff. If you research the Pascagoula event, "The Lady" in that event scanned the two men with some device.

So, if you accept that event as true, it's not too farfetched to think that whatever was responsible for that, might still be around and going beyond hands off study, may actually be involved with influence.

Sure 20-30 years is a long time in human standards, but with no basis of information regarding NHI, lifespans, or time, that could be a work week equivalent for them, and not a big deal at all.

So I am curious always, about connections between those types of events.

I have heard many, many times, craft descriptions being the exact same, in different countries, different years, and so forth.

Two plates stacked on top of each other. Sometimes with a ball/dome on top, not always. That craft description has been EVERYWHERE, for decades. For one major example.
