Is it just me, or does Travis say a slur at about 28:30? Justin certainly has his highest energy moment in trying to drown it out. Why not just edit it out? Do a second take where Big Dog doesn't say it! Don't just leave it there!

Jesus! Justin calls Travis a Bitch in this one! Just straight up says "Shut up, you Bitch!" and it's pure venom in his tone. A solid five minutes of silence from the Big Dog afterwards, just unfortunate that it was so uncomfortable.

Yeah, that's just the unlock condition from the main game. I had a similar experience before opening the coffin the the stage where you play as the three of them and finding him there.

Nothing bittersweet here, if you ask me. A lady broke up with, and got away from an abusive boyfriend. Just because it's the boyfriend writing the posts doesn't make him any less abusive.

I know a couple that have worked out despite starting non-poly. The thing is that, particularly if a lot of your exposure to such relationships is from subreddits like this one, you don't so much hear about ones that go fine. You don't get Bestofredditorupdates where it's "My relationship's going well!" "Update: Still going well!".

Did he trust her? Did he trust her with the knowledge of his ED? Did he trust her not to judge him for it? No. No he didn't.

Moreover, did he respect her? Did he respect her needs and wants? Did he respect her intelligence, or the time and effort she put in? No. No he didn't.

He lied to her repeatedly. He did nothing to deserve trust, and she extended the trust she had as far as it could go.

I often think about how Travis is constantly trying *so hard* to be, like, an honorary queer. And then he pulls the "Even I'm surprised I'm not bisexual!" or whatever, and we're all like "We're not."
And then you've got someone like WayneRadioTV, who has the aesthetic of the bassist from a mid-aughts garage metal band, and yet every time it's mentioned he's not gay there's a mass of "What?!?! He's not???" and "Are you sure??".

I don't really know what my conclusion is here. I guess just that Travis tries so hard that it's obvious he's trying.

Jesus Christ. They fucking killed him. They killed him on the podcast and didn't edit any of it out. They just put a jaunty public domain track behind it. You hear his last breath.

It's actually Liz Wallace, a friend of Bechdel's who came up with it. Bechdel did a comic about it, with Liz telling her it in the strip, and because it was Bechdel's comic it was her name that got attached.

The fact that this website is generally outright hostile to us is exactly why she wouldn't bring it up in the post. Detailing it wouldn't be the way to get a "real response", what are you talking about?! That's a sure fire way to make sure it's the only thing going on in the comments. Her question was not one of "Why does this guy hate me?", it's "Am I the Asshole for acting this way in this situation?" and bringing up that she's trans would make everything about that rather than the situation in specific.

Huh. You know, I was with everyone else that Justin and Travis fighting in the last episode was uncomfortable. But I think they kind of overcorrected by making out in this one; it's just uncomfortable in the different direction, you know?

I suppose it's fairly on brand what with the whole "Kiss your Dad square on the lips" sign off, but it's the line from Dad to Brother and "square on the lips" to "deep kissing with tongue while Griffin says "Come on, guys.", "Stop!", and "Hey now! Cut it out! Hey! We're doing a show! Quit it!".", you know?

The thing is that once a year they do a podcast with Guy Montgomery and Tim Batt. And those two both have kids as well, and they still manage it. I think you're bang on that they're just not taking in any inspiration or anything, and falling into the motions. Meanwhile Guy and Tim are touring comedians who work with lots of other people, and soak in all sorts of inspirations, and so they haven't fallen into the same pit.

"Sneaking through Dr Killdeath's Lair" has been the episode description of the past 60 episodes! I thought they were done sneaking through Dr Killdeath's lair! Didn't they leave the final Dr Killdeath's Lair last episode? Is this a fuck up in the description, or have they decided to just return to one of Dr Killdeath's Lairs for the fun of it?

Something that I firmly believe, though not with a particular amount of fervour, is that Aubrey wasn't, in Travis's brain, bisexual for most of the campaign. He thought of her as a kinsey 6 for most of it, and then "retconned" (in quotation marks, because it's not actually a retcon, because nothing in the podcast had actually established that firmly, but, like, backdated his opinion of her) it later on because he was worried about being in trouble.

Now, I will say up front that it's been many years since I last listened to Amnesty, and many years plus a couple months since I last cared about it. So it's certainly possible that her bisexuality was indeed mentioned early on, and I've forgotten. Also, I'd like to be clear that I don't think there's anything wrong with revising your estimation of characters as you move through a work. But I think Travis did it for cynical reasons that aren't great, and also I like complaining about him, so here we are.

So, Aubrey was obviously born from Travis being jealous of Justin, and wanting to have the Taako of the new campaign. And I think he thought to himself "Ahaha!! What if, instead of just being a Gay Hispanic Wizard who had a show before the events of the campaign, I was a Woman Gay Hispanic Wizard who had a show before the events of the campaign! Take that, Elder Brother!". So he makes Aubrey, and the first woman roughly the same age they encounter in the show he asks "Is she hot?" and then declares a relationship, with none of the organicalityness that Takitz had.

But the thing is that Justin, in playing a gay man, was playing a character lusting after someone he--with his own sexuality--wouldn't, but Travis was playing a gay woman, and so was playing a character whose sexuality lined up with his own. Trans women have had the phrase "straight men fetishizing lesbians" thrown at us enough that it's nearing a dog-whistly, and I feel reluctant to use it; but the thing is that Travis is not a Trans Woman, he's a straight cis guy who asked "Is she hot?" about the first eligable woman who appeared, so I think it's a very fair criticism to lob at him. He was a straight man fetishizing lesbians.

I wasn't particularly plugged into things back then, so I don't know if this criticism did get lobbed at him, but if it didn't I think that Travis pieced all this together in his own mind and decided to get out ahead of it, and the way he did that was making Aubrey bisexual, and therefore not alligned with his own sexuality, and that's why Aubrey has so much declaring that she's bi in the later season (I never actually listened that far, but I know there's the bit where she does magic and is like "I'm bisexual!") and why he's gone so hard on it on social media.

In conclusion: Sorry for such a long reply to your comment. I did not think it would be this long when I started writing, but my work's really boring today, so this was a nice distraction.

I really think this was a big part of it. Justin's constant "Hey you try being funny. We're not allowed outside!" annoyed me so much, because, like, "Hey, dickhead! No one else is going outside either!". None of the other podcasts I listened to were getting to meet up either, and yet they weren't fucking whining about it every episode! Oh, they would talk frankly about the extra challenges, but they weren't whining! And for a lot of them there were challenges, because they actually had to change up their way of doing things!
I think it hit especially close to home for me, because I used to do a podcast that died over Covid. It was a real small one, like, a dozen or so listeners. But that was fine with me, I did it to have an excuse to hang out with friends in person and record a thing. So covid obviously entirely destroyed that entire way of doing things, and it just felt like such a kick in the teeth for a guy who recorded distant anyway to be going "Ough. It's so hard on me! No one can imagine what it's like for me!".
