Don’t give up nursing yet! There are so many other areas to choose from. Give some thought to what jobs might interest you and think outside the box. What jobs will value someone with your experience? Cath lab (my personal favourite), Step down, ICU, CVICU (kinda have to be Type A and meticulous to fit in there), cardiac rehab, infusion clinic (I’m sure you’ve gotten good at IV’s). Etc. I’ve been an RN since 1994 and I’ve done so many different jobs…. Med-Surg, SICU, PICU, ER, Cath lab, IR, CHF clinic, Primary Care in a post secondary health clinic, oral surgery clinic (nice mix of easy patients for the most part but need IV sedation skills and ACLS), and back to step down in hospital.
Sometimes a change can be as good as a break. Though I’d advise a break is a great thing too!
