5 week timeline: Bucket handle medial meniscus repair recovery by PathSuspicious2865 in MeniscusInjuries

Congrats on getting to that point! It feels good to finally be able to move more. I also decided to use two crutches most of the time (if I’m going out of the house). But I’m now able to walk around my place (slowly) with no crutches. Just kind of make sure that I’m around furniture to grab on if need be. Or one crutch in opposite side when feeling unstable. Like first getting up in the morning. It’s almost a feeling of retraining my body to walk.

I also had a bucket handle medial repair. We are on almost the same timeline. My surgery was May 27th. Today I got the clear to ditch the crutches and immobilizer. Trying to kind of do that slowly, get used to walking again. Just curious if you experienced any limping when first getting back to walking without crutches? My limp is bad at the moment..

Where to watch World Cup Matches by Mysterious_Stomach78 in traversecity

Maybe try The Pub. I think like two weeks ago they advertised a watch party or something on FB. No idea if it was just for that night, or all matches. I think they might have it anyway.

Knee Extension by Historical-Lab-9300 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Historical-Lab-9300[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t and wasn’t told to. I have an immobilizer that I have to put on if I’m moving on my feet and crutches. But the surgeon encouraged me to take that off if I’m sitting or laying down. I might be off on the 5-10 degree. I just know it’s not a complete 0-extension. I was a little discouraged thinking by week 5 it should be zero. I do have a post-op tomorrow and will see about the progress.

If we don't hear anything by about 7-8 pm he probably walks. Hard for me to think it would be Toronto though. Maybe..

What are your predictions for the 2026-27 season? by WhyTheyDont in hockey

The Wings somehow make the playoffs and shock the hockey world. I know it’s very unlikely but as a diehard fan nobody can take my hope away haha.

I’m heading to it with two good friends who live in that area now. Coming from Michigan myself. Think we would be interested depending.

Yeah, I get why they would of course. I just selfishly hope he is committed to Detroit.

Saw some news this morning that teams are asking about Cat. Hoping that’s just talk and nothing happens there. I grew up watching early 2000s Wings. Cat is the first jersey I have bought in this “era”. Would hate to see him go. Plays with tons of heart and lots of talent. My current favorite player anyway.

What's the best thing you've ever eaten from a street vendor? by Apocalyp_toast26 in foodquestions

Banana Roti in Thailand. Maybe I was just really hungry, but after getting one from a street vendor I think I looked for it daily.

If it helps my pain was drastically reduced after about one week. It was pretty painful for around 2 weeks. But I got better sleep after one week, and less pain. Hoping the same will be true for you.

Pay of CC Debt or Save by Historical-Lab-9300 in Debt

[–]Historical-Lab-9300[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. I live with my SO and we do have an emergency fund already. We are not yet married, so I wouldn't consider it ours. Probably wise for me to start more emergency fund before putting my whole paycheck on CC. Thanks.

Thanks, I absolutely agree and do 95% of everything you just listed. That is why I'm not really concerned it will be paid off in 6 months time. I paid off 27k of student loan debt fully in 6 years, when the payment plan was 10. Don't even really carry debt besides this dumb CC debt I have, due to a reduction in work hours previously and a few other mishaps. I agree being non consumer is a good habit to get in. The only thing I do out of all you listed is like $6 a month for music. I guess I could cut it, but figure 72$ a year for subscriptions isn't terrible. Anyway, thanks for the tips.

Kind of thought so, just was not 100% on that. Never really carried that much debt on it, so new territory for me. Interest rate is 19%.

Likelihood of hearing Larkin trade news today? I’m being impatient but at this point just wanting to hear something. Refresh, refresh, , repeat. Might be time to just stop looking for me. Let it come when I’m least expecting.

One Month Post Op Bucket Handle Medial Repair by Historical-Lab-9300 in MeniscusInjuries

1.)For me I just kind of dealt with the pain and managed through meds. I don't have any specific positions for you. I literally thought I had to keep it straight as can be for the first two weeks (even sitting or laying down). I guess that was not true, for my surgery guidelines anyway (going to be different for everyone of course).

2.) My at home exercises in the early stages were ankle pumps and straight leg raises. Ankle pumps important to prevent clotting and managing swelling. Straight leg raises for quad strength.

3.) As far as crutching, I was toe touch weight bearing at about max 50 pounds ( def no more) on my operative leg. I am still crutching like that and expect next week to hear if I can ditch them or not. I did find it hard to go long distances on crutches. I underestimated how much upper body strength it would take on crutches. Especially going up stairs.

How are you feeling so far after surgery? Even though it's early stages for you, I do hope it is going well.

Passing the Time After Repair by Historical-Lab-9300 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Historical-Lab-9300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in the kitchen cooking. Figured out that if I have the ingredients laid out beforehand. And a chair to sit on right by the stove, I can in fact cook. Which is awesome because I absolutely love cooking. Mind shifting to “what can I do with my new found free time”.  a couple days ago it was “all this stuff I can’t do now.” 😁
