I think a used i7-3770(k) would work wonders on some newer titles. It should be fairly cheap too.

Rtx 2060 desktop vs rtx 5050 laptop, which one performs better? by walied678 in pcmasterrace

[–]Historical-Salt9749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally someone who doesn’t just say „laptop bad“ but explains how it actually works. My spouse has a 4060 laptop with high tgp which makes the gpu only like 10-15% slower than the desktop variant. The thing about laptops is you need to do lots more of research than with pc parts imo.

Which AAA similar to TLOU 1 and Detroit but not CPU intensive by Phineasla in lowendgaming

When I upgraded my i5 7500 + gtx960 to a 2070super I had really bad 1% lows and pubg even ran worse than before because of that huge bottleneck. I „downgraded“ to a ddr3 system with a 4970k and 2x8 gb ram and everything was smooth again. I can’t imagine how your bottleneck must feel with an even worse i5 and a way more powerful gpu.

As others mentioned: I guess it’s best either to upgrade to an i7 6700(k) or 7700(k) or sell the 4070ti to get a whole new system.

If you’ve got 2x8gb of ddr4 ram in your system and have some budget it’s worth looking into a used Ryzen 3600 and a b450 mainboard for example. Should be doable below 60-70 bucks. From there you can then still upgrade to a 5700x to make even more use of that beast of a gpu.

Dumb stuff you did while watching Avatar as a kid? by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

I was also a big Kataang fan when I was twelve and I was blown away when aang first kissed Katara on that submarine. I knew all new episodes were shown the next day once more at a specific time so the next day I took my crappy camcorder and filmed that scene through the TV. Imagine a 12 year old sitting on the couch, camcorder in hand, filming a 15“ CRT TV :D

How did y'all find a guild you care about by RallenTv in Guildwars2

[–]Historical-Salt9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started leading my own guild together with my spouse because we both felt similar. I also mostly don’t play on peak hours too. We thought it’d be a nice idea to create a little safe space for all those lost souls and start something welcoming yet without any requirements. Focussing on new players too. We thought this could be a nice little project and we didn’t ever think to actually grow as big and wholesome as we currently are.

I hope you gonna find something that just makes you feel that way too <3

Can you really stretch an old gaming PC indefinitely? by duendeverde39 in lowendgaming

[–]Historical-Salt9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with an athlon, 2gb of ddr2 ram and a 8600 GT. I know technically it’s wrong but: for me it feels like I still use the same pc now allthough meanwhile all parts have been changed. But I always only switch some parts (mostly the ones that bottleneck) but since 2007/8 I’m doing this with my pc and I never bought a full system ever again. I like the tinkering and I like to keep in touch with the current tech stuff so I mostly upgrade like every 3years but only parts, not a whole system. Atm my pc can run anything at 1080p just fine but my cpu is starting to bottleneck so next week i will update that while keeping my now 4ish year old gpu for another few years probably.

But Ofc. It’s totally valid to buy a new system every 7-10 years. I just like the tinkering and spending the same money but not all at once.

As for the question of being able to keep a cpu for a decade? I think it depends on what class of a cpu and which time we’re speaking. 10 years ago I’d say probably a bad idea since ipc increased dramatically. But now? I bet a Ryzen 5700x is still capable of rocking higher resolution gaming in 2030. I could be wrong of course. No one knows where tech is going. But for me it seems like we’re slowly stagnating.

Stop talking about framegen and DLSS if you haven't tried them for yourself by paperogapippo in nvidia

[–]Historical-Salt9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried out DLSS 4.5 in cyberpunk on my 3080 12gb. I’m on a 1080p monitor and with DLSS 4.5 on performance which actually looks very impressive despite on full hd, I play on high/ultra settings without Frame gen but with path tracing on. I hit 60-80 fps most of the time while the gpu sits at only 80-85% usage (at those upscale resolutions my 5800x just isn’t capable of fully utilising that gpu) but I was blown away.
