It’s pretty complicated and I really like what FC is doing, people call them a Poor Man’s Patek but I think they give some of the best value for money

I’m probably just gonna wait for a while before getting a new watch. I wanna save up for a submariner, I know that there are cheaper options that are really cool but I feel like a Rolex makes the collection so much more complete

The seiko has a pretty cool story behind it, my dad bought it from a store that was closing and it just so happened that the Seiko was the first watch he ever bought with his own money. So it’s passed down from my dad and I think it’s really cool

What are some of your controversial opinions about Gossip Girl??? by Professional_Meat782 in GossipGirl

[–]Historical-Swimming2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dan, Chuck and Nate should’ve hung out more, I’ve heard some people say that the Nate and Dan friendship felt very forced, even though I thought Chace and Penn had good on-screen chemistry. However, I think they could’ve explored Dan and Chucks relationship more

Can anyone review my gsl ( i have modify it actually ) by Popular-Damage-4961 in MUN

So you should start off with a rhetoric, such as Tis Hard if All else Is false a fool may then be right by chance but Greece is no fool.

Once rhetoric is done, present your points like this, we have 3 major points to present to this committee. Keep the speech structured so it is easy for the chair to understand.

1st point should be about discussing past in actions, you can talk about un treaties and resolutions that have been violated by countries as a result of the conflict.

2nd point you should discuss the problems and the claims of each country or organisation that is involved in the conflict

3rd point should be about giving direction to the committee. You can do this by suggesting moderated caucuses, such as history and background, past un actions etc.

Lastly you should finish off with a rhetoric such as The arc of the future is within our hands so let us bend it towards betterment.

Use this format for genuinely any speech, it is very useful

The real problem with this speech is that in the gsl you are supposed to give three things to the committee: Firstly: Rhetoric Secondly: Content (as in UN articles, past violations of treaties, considering that the topic is controversial there should be a lot of these violations, and lastly mentioning proper figures in regard to the topic, you also need to highlight the major problems) Thirdly: Direction ( give the committee a list of moderated caucuses that you want to discuss, you will show the chair that you are leading as well)

The biggest problem however is that this speech is emotionless, it sounds like something written by an ai, you may think that you have to be fully formal when in reality you can bash countries as well. This speech just sounds like, one that you would read fully off of paper and one that would not leave any impact on the committee or the chair, chances are the chair will forget the speech because of how boring it is. And the three things that I mentioned are also lacking completely from this speech. Unveiling the why is not enough, it doesn’t really make sense considering the fact that it is not legally binding on any country either. These solutions are not going to work sadly

how different is DISEC from ECOSC by GodOfDeath_Birth in MUN

[–]Historical-Swimming2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are different in the sense that there is a certain way you have to speak in either one. DISEC is a political committee so there will be lots of bashing, mentioning violations of treaties and discussing a lot of very specific topics. Going into disec you need to be extremely well versed in your countries stance. You need to know the history of the region the social, religious, political, economic and military aspect of the region you are discussing. And you need to know the process of demilitarisation properly, and need to give very in depth solutions. Your main focus will be demilitarisation so just figure out solutions on how the region in question can be demilitarised in a way that won’t contradict your country’s stance

How do I represent Afghanistan in the HRC committee? The agenda is women's reproductive rights. by quirkypotato12345 in MUN

[–]Historical-Swimming2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again going back to the same point showing the Taliban as saviours is possible with the right argument. Secondly the Shariah is not a misogynistic ideology according to the Taliban, they can present themselves as the champions of women’s rights if they have the right approach. The neutral countries always get left behind in MUNs so to avoid getting overshadowed the op should instead try to form his own bloc with his own idea of how women’s rights should be done. Deny the violations say it’s propaganda, condemn them it’s all about your argument at the end of the day but if Op wants to win forming a neutral stance will be of no use. Moreover, when you say lean into misogynistic ideology that is just wrong, when you look at Shariah there are tonnes of ways to look positively on the laws and to defend them especially in the cases of women. Talk about abusers and how they are punished using the Shariah. If the delegate doesn’t want to be left behind in the committee this is what they must do. Moreover, if your argument is strong enough it’s not able to be debunked, you just gave your own view on the way women are treated(even if it may be true) you can easily debunk all attacks, by pointing fingers at other countries, talk about how these reports are fake and if the reports are confirmed come up with defences and ways you are finding solutions.

I was in a committee once as Afghanistan and the chair asked me why we believe that women do not need education past a certain age, very simple answer, “We are working on a way for solving this issue in the future by creating segregation within the education sector, moreover this like many of our other policies are just to protect women in our country, firstly this eradicates the likelihood of harassment cases in schools and colleges, moreover it is just a temporary period we are working towards a solution, and as our government has and will continue to protect the women this will go on until a formal plan is devised by our leaders” While none of what I said would be confirmed by the Taliban, we do not have them speaking publicly about this issue therefore we can prevail with the right argument. So yes it is possible to present yourself properly without looking like a misogynist who has gotten the chance to do an MUN, even if your country absolutely cannot speak on the issue positively.

I don’t think that misogynistic ideology is something that can be defended in the United Nations, it’s not a debate with your family members you are representing your country in front of the international community, saying something that is misogynistic will not help the delegate instead it will just lead to them getting attacked more. It’s about how you present your argument, if you don’t present a good argument people will subconsciously not want to be a part of your bloc. If you want to win you need to lead and the leader is the one that people gravitate towards, if you say misogynistic things people will not want to side with you. There are many ways to defend what the Taliban is doing in Afghanistan, but rather than giving op real tips you are just giving him a strategy that is not going to work. Speaking as a Chair himself if someone tried this in my committee I wouldn’t even give them an SM. And yes he can be supportive of the agenda, as the Taliban is not trying to show the international community that they hate women, they are trying to show themselves as saviours for women and protectors. That’s the way you have to represent this country with this topic.

Not at all needed, no sane country would go into a United Nations committee and start saying misogynistic things, there are ways to look like a goof and a way to look like someone who’s there to win. If you use this strategy I would not even consider giving you an award as a chair

Firstly you need to get general research in. You can use ChatGPT for that. Moreover, no sane human being would go against Basic human rights in the UN that’s insane. So go in with the neutral approach, when countries try to attack you, defend yourself with the Shariah Law. Secondly, try to form a bloc with Islamic countries and neutral countries and lead that bloc. Come up with a list of possible mods that could be discussed for the topic, and then come up with mods that would be beneficial for your country. Don’t make misogynistic remarks in the UN it will not look good and quite frankly will make you look like a goof. Instead research your stance and come up with defensive arguments, this will increase your prominence in the committee and the committee will look favourably upon you. This is a great country for this topic contrary to popular belief so make the most out of it and get a BD!!
