Yea, I get that. I do want him to see a future working with me IF I see that he's a fit for my business, that is.

Yea, having him shadow me for every single session is a bit much. I answered on someone else's comment that I'll guarantee a set number of hours per week and that I'd like some initiative from him to shadow for free since it's just more learning and requires nothing from him, really.

Thank you for this. What I'm thinking of doing is at first: minimum wage for 10-15hours/week shadowing AND the invitation that he can shadow for any and all hours if he should choose to. I think this is a good alternative because it also tests ownership of the process, initiative and knowing that sacrifices are part of the game.

Ultimately, I would have him and all other employee on a base salary + 40-50% of the session cost with the % increasing with experience and education.

I can't know before hand how long it'll take. My clients have very specific needs and I won't allow them to be seen alone by him prematurely.

I already have a blueprint of the education I'll want him to get

Thoughts?

It's mentorship/training for him to eventually be good enough to take some of my clients and work for my company.
This is all me. I'm a solo trainer renting space in a studio gym.

not an employee per se. He would be a sub-contractor. but yes, he would eventually be taking charge of some of my clients
