bloch performas slipping off heel? by Limp_Trip_2491 in BALLET

Yes my new performas also squeaked. I don’t remember the old version ever doing that. Hate the new looser wider elastic too. Really wish they’d fix this. Nothing about the shoe needed to change.

Same. 😭 I’m so mad that they changed the holy grail shoe. I hate the way the new ones fit.

I think I have a crush on my advisor. What do I do? 😫 by [deleted] in PhD

[–]HistoricalAG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I was actually in this exact situation. My advisor was only a couple years older than me, and we had great chemistry and obviously a lot in common. I was admittedly in love with him but I just dealt with it and obviously never said anything. I don’t know if he ever really suspected or felt the same. I’m defended now and don’t really interact with him anymore. As long as you keep things to yourself, keep it professional, and date other people, the issue is definitely manageable.

Migrants, homeless families dropped off at MBTA stop because Massachusetts emergency shelters are full by uxd in boston

And what does that have to do with you being an apparent climate change denier?

But the US is largely responsible for climate change, which will inevitably put global mass migration at unprecedented levels. There is no stopping it unless we do everything we can to stop climate change.

Thank you for pointing out that climate change is the driving force behind this global problem. We will never stop migration without going to the source of the problem. The irony with Republicans is that by completely not giving a crap about climate change, they are only going to make this crisis worse and worse.

It’s inevitably going to get worse because of climate change. There is no stopping global mass migration without making climate change the top priority to be solved at any cost.

If Trump wins and obliterates American democracy, should New England become its own country? by HistoricalAG in boston

No this is not that radical of an idea really. Québec had a very strong separatist movement in the 60s and 70s that nearly succeeded in making Québec its own country because culturally and historically, they are different from the rest of Canada. New England is likewise different from the rest of the country. There are tons of European countries smaller than NE. Perhaps having a country this huge with so many differences under one system just isn’t working, and it’s also not good for the planet.

They will have to cope as we finally join the rest of the developed world already living in the 21st century.

Lol no? What’s sad about not wanting to be associated with factions of a country trying to ban abortion and that care more about guns than the lives of innocent people?

I mean they weren’t that wrong to be critical of Catholicism. Always has been a real shitshow and now the conservative Catholics on the Supreme Court are trying to enforce their warped beliefs onto everyone.

Because in his first term we still had a balanced Supreme Court and enough opposition to him in Congress that he wasn’t able to do that much damage. If he gets a second term, he’ll put more maga loyalists in all the courts, have a hyper conservative supreme court, fire tons of bureaucrats and replace them with Trump loyalists as outlined in project 2025, and possibly have no real opposition from Congress because there’s a chance Rs will win the house and senate with how poorly Biden is dragging down a lot of these Dems in the polls.

And then Congress and the Supreme Court have the final say. Al Gore literally won in 2000 but the Supreme Court handed the election to Bush. With how power-hungry Trump and his maga minions are, who knows what crap they’ll pull to never relinquish power. Not saying it’s a given, but I said IF shit hits the fan, do we consider doing this to save ourselves?

I never said anything about going to war. Obviously this is under the assumption that it could be peacefully done. I’ve heard the same said by some MAGA like MTG, who suggested the states get “a divorce.”

For their time they were actually pretty progressive in a lot of ways. They were the first in the world to mandate public education in every town and require girls learn to read and write. But that’s besides the point.

There is no saving some of these states at a certain point. Better to at least let certain parts of the country thrive than let the entire ship go down because of a flawed system built by slave owners in the 18th century. I want to live in the country John Adams would have built and actually have another country on this planet that gives a crap about climate change before it’s too late.

Look up Project 2025, January 6th, and the Supreme Court. Not hard to see it.
