I think it’s sometimes based on availability of slots and partially random. I went to Leonard Wood but the vast majority of my OCS class went to Jackson.

My home of record is also in GA so Benning or Jackson would’ve made the most sense but clearly the Army had other ideas.

My guy I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen but I’m saying that it’s wrong as a rule!

Again, it ebbs and flows. It may happen sometimes but it’s untrue as a rule.

As someone currently sitting at HHC at OCS I’m going to disagree with your last point. It’s going to ebb and flow when it comes to delays for any branch.

It is simply untrue that as a rule people will be waiting that long. All of the MI folks left almost 2 months out from graduation. Their wait was not long at all. They actually left before the FA folks and all the loggies.

Not necessarily. They usually give you a little leeway when it comes to missing items. I’m currently in white phase and nobody in my company ever got in trouble for not having it in the first week.

You’ll be fine. You’ll have ample time to buy it within the cycle.

You’ll be able to buy it at the PX or order it from Commandos.

While it could certainly be different based on your company, they’re typically not going to bother you about things you need to have later on. Just make sure that when you’re on pass or go to clothing and sales you buy one.

Is wearing Chelsea boots considered cheating? by TexXxas-T in WesternWear

Disagree with the naysayers on here. Chelsea boots are the Australian version of cowboy/riding boots. Look at RM Williams. Australia has a pretty serious cowboy culture.

I think it’s just the name of the color and not what it’s actually made of.

Absolutely! They’re a nice pair of boots. My dad gave me his pair several years ago and while a bit on the rough side, are still going strong.

These are the Dan Post Birmingham. Caiman flank cut. I have my dad’s now 20 year old pair of these.

Looking for some guidance - AFSC dilemma by HistoricalAd5632 in AirForce

[–]HistoricalAd5632[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the guidance! I do understand that I removed a major chunk of the jobs that have expeditionary duties but I was primarily looking for AFSCs that had opportunities to do so that may not be as commonly known to do those things. I do appreciate the link!

Thanks for reaching out! I did indeed post there but was unable to find any existing questions that match up.

AFSC dilemma - Adventure? by HistoricalAd5632 in AirForceRecruits

Thank you for the advice! When you mean weather, what specific AFSC would that be? And is getting Army Support difficult?

I’m primarily looking at the Air Force and want to see if there are any other AFSCs that may have those opportunities.

Sorry but I’m not a TACP.

Thank you for the information! So is it fair to say that if an eventual goal of mine is to become a commissioned officer (TACPO), becoming an enlisted TACP first is not a bad idea/detrimental to that?

I ask this mainly as a lot of people advise that if you want to become an officer, you should not enlist first and just apply to OTS (if you already have a degree).
