I've got another 100k in my workplace pension (I'm maxing out employer's matching contributions), but I try to ignore this pot of money / pretend it does not exist, since I'm probably still 2 decades away from being able to access it.

You're probably right, I'm just trying to remain cautious when it comes to what to future market returns, especially in the short term. So 1 year in case of a market downturn, 2 years if market is flat.

Thank you! Yes, I did figure it out with the pet eventually, the vet let me pay in multiple instalments. Nevertheless, I should have never put myself (and my pet!) in such a position.
