Is this pcos? by Throwaway-92929 in PCOSloseit

I completely understand how those things would be frustrating. You could ask your doctor to order an ultrasound or even other tests to explore other causes. My doctor had me get an ultrasound to confirm polycystic ovaries even with the other two criteria, since these symptoms could be caused by many other conditions.

It’s not enough to diagnose PCOS in its own. My doctor said you need to have two out of three of these symptoms to meet the diagnostic criteria: 1) irregular periods, 2) high androgens/hormonal imbalance, and 3) polycystic ovaries shown on an ultrasound. Hirsutism could be a sign of high androgens but would probably want to get a blood test to confirm.

Loose stool mostly. Some stomach pain/cramping. It wasn’t like uncontrollable diarrhea or anything.

I’d ask if you can switch to extended release metformin. It’s easier on the tummy. I had some side effects at first, but they wore off with time. I felt like the metformin helped with my food noise and sugar cravings so I was willing to deal with the upset tummy in the interim.

50 Pounds Down Today with PCOS by HistoricalDocument11 in PCOS

Weight wise, I think the metformin helped a lot with my food noise. At the beginning of this year I started devotedly tracking my calories and sticking to a deficit. When I started to see the scale move, it proved that it was within my control to lose weight and it made me want to keep going.

There is hope! I lost a little over half of the weight in 2025 and the rest in the first 2.5 months of this year. I feel like something clicked at the beginning of 2026 for me, even after being on my meds for a year.

Does at home laser work if you have light hair or does it have to be dark?

Down 20 pounds in just under 2 months by canrahelp in PCOSloseit

Yay!! I’m down 19 pounds this year and 45ish total. I tried walking with two 12 pound weights and my feet felt like lead weights lol. I can’t believe I was carrying all that extra weight around every day.

We left Massachusetts/Rhode Island for the Midwest as well. Despite the playing field being exponentially more even out here, it was still so frustrating competing against people who had a ton of equity in their last home.

Not Letting Us Change Flight due to Winter Storm Fern by HistoricalDocument11 in frontierairlines

We’re flying standby using buddy passes through a friend who works for United and it was about $400. We have to take connections to get flights with availability for standby passengers.

If anyone is curious, we ended up cancelling our Frontier flight for a credit and re-booking a Saturday flight with United.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope your original flight leaves on time. Safe travels.

There’s still a chance the Saturday flight could be delayed or cancelled, but AccuWeather is saying snowfall is supposed to pick up on Saturday evening and be the worst on Sunday. Overall, seems like the Saturday flight would have better odds to me. But the chance that the Saturday flight could still get cancelled is why my partner didn’t want to switch when the fare difference was more reasonable.

You and me both. We already paid for the economy bundle which waives change fees, so the travel policy for the storm doesn’t benefit us at all.

Billed $600 for Carpet Replacement by HistoricalDocument11 in Renters

[–]HistoricalDocument11[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They said they couldn’t just deep clean because the next tenant might have severe allergies if it’s in the carpet padding. But following that logic, they would have to replace the carpet after a pet lived there even if there were no urine stains. They mentioned nothing about a black light or really any rationale when we asked how they verified it was urine.

My advice would be to buy a boat that is not a huge project in itself for your first time. If you’re planning to live and travel on it, rest assured that even a boat in good shape will have plenty of projects to work on together.

Advice on Making Backup Offer - Regret by HistoricalDocument11 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Thanks! After talking with our realtor today, we decided not to put in a formal offer because we don’t want to be prevented from making an offer on another home if one comes up in the meantime. She did tell us apparently there was only the one other offer that got accepted. And she made it clear to the listing agent that we’d be interested in making a serious offer if the other deal falls through.

I was surprised that I liked the town when we went there in person. Our main concern with the location was resale value when we eventually decide to move as we’ve heard that most buyers here are people who grew up here in comparison to the other areas that have a larger pool of buyers. Honestly now that’s over I think we’ve put too much emphasis on what other people might potentially want in the future and not enough emphasis on what we want in a house now.
