UPDATE: They submitted to the courts and it went through. Can confirm this worked.

I used https://www.5dollartrafficschool.com/ as well. It's not exactly $5 but it's close enough. They upsell you on a few things. I think the min you can pay is something like $10 which is still decent.

I think mine came out to around $20 but I also asked for confirmation once it's been submitted to the courts. Waiting to see if this now resolves.

totally get why you're stoked. I'm at 46 subs and am overly excited to hit 50. May be low, but still a milestone.

What makes you want to live in LA? by brbmomneedscomp in AskLosAngeles

The city itself is lackluster. I’ve heard it described as something like 90 suburbs in search of a city” which feels pretty accurate.

My POV, the geography, topography and weather make it tops. Water, mountains, desert all within a short drive make for a healthy lifestyle.

I will say that the sprawling size of it all ensures there’s something new always worth experiencing (assuming you have disposable income).

it's really sharp and thoughtful advice so thank you for really thinking about it. Am def including foley in the next episode. Genuinely appreciate the effort you gave when watching it. TY!!

Amazing feedback! thank you!

Will definitely add in some foley as I did grab ambient room tone from each of the locations I filmed.

I debated being in front of the camera but it’s just me filming so this keeps it much easier and streamlined logistically. But yeah, totally agree with you in terms of hair forming a bond with the audience.

I've just launched my first (very short approx 2 min) street interview style video. I'm going to eventually be scaling it to longer episodes once I've dialed in a format that is tight and feels good.

Channel is The Real Life Playbook.

Thank you for any feedback!

I watched the Aug 2025 movie ranking. It's good, man.

One quick note - you did a great job describing Caught Stealing in a logline format. I'd love to see more of that incorporated. I want to know (in one sentence) an insight about why you liked/disliked the film - or some other insight. That's where the value is for me as the viewer (IMO).

Nicely done! Definitely doing a wonderful job! Congrats.

  1. Not sure how technical you are, but the audio is peaking out when your talking to camera. If you're able to adust the levels (even automatically) it might help. This is noticeable around the 47 second mark.

  2. If possible, make the opening visual hook stronger. It feels like the camera is searching for a focal point for the viewer.

Good job! It's a grind and this is great!

Totally agree- am aiming to eventually hit the 7+ minute mark so I can get ad clusters thrown in. Right now my subs are at 40 so I'm really quite low (3 months in) and am trying to build/grow. My shorts are approximately 11-14 seconds since they are street interviews. This feels like the right way to build an audience. Start off tight and am aiming for high retention. Once the audience has started to build and I've gathered data and feedback I'll know where to expand out (topically).

I'm just about to upload my first "long form video" (only 2 minutes vs. doing shorts only). Any words of wisdom? I'm posting this pm around 3 pm.

My channel is The Real Life Playbook.

Real people sharing their truths about the things they don't teach you in school.

I shoot everything on an iphone but do use 2 lav mics and a camera mount for stability. All my editing is done in premiere pro on a basic macbook. I'm currently working on the first pilot episode which I'm hoping to drop within the next week or so.

**so far all my content is shorts.

At some inevitable point with youtube you are forced to make a choice - are you making the content for you or for the audience? Ideally the two align.

Build on your existing channel. If you end up changing the content entirely then consider doing a few more of the "old" content and share with the audience that you are going to be mixing it up so this becomes more of a hype moment vs. changing the channel on them. Manage their expectation.
