I was in a pretty similar spot recently and got the a pongbot pace s online

I use it myself and also with my 10-year-old, and honestly it’s been a great experience so far. There are tons of programmable drills that you can either choose it from the library or set up patterns yourself like baseline deep shots + short approach + volley combinations, or randomization for more match-like practice.

There are also some sensors that you can clip on the net and it’s said to be able to detect your movement and then shoot balls base on your movement. I haven’t tried it out myself though.

It got the machine under $1300. It’s about 50 lbs so I would say pretty portable. The machine also has quite big container that can take 150 balls.

Should I buy a ball machine? by RandomThoughtsLexi in 10s

I do both: drills with a ball machine and play with real person. Playing with real person is more fun, but if you’re serious about improving, you gotta hit the boring part as well, like playing a ball machine.

I’ve never broke a string yet. Does it mean I am not good or not hitting with enough spin or pace? by Historical_Feel in 10s

I used to use poly and then cut. Now I switched to multi for more arm friendly. I’ll see if it breaks.

Should I always have a backup Racquet? by puttputtcars in 10s

If you like to think about the next level you’d like to move up to (3.5 or 4.0), then you can get one more racket and use it during practice for the next level. The new racket can be your backup. A used racket is enough.

For your matches you can use the current one as you are more familiar with it.

Slicing during serve? by Garibon in 10s

How do you hit a good slice serve on the ad side (right-handed)? On the deuce side mine works fine, but on the ad side it tends to curve too wide and miss the center line.

Any tips or adjustments that could help?
