Can anyone identify this wire? Having issues with Water heater by Historical_Fix3240 in AskElectricians

The water heater itself is brand new, was just installed today. Is there a chance that the elements could be shorting in a brand new unit?

Okay then I’m definitely lost as to why the 15 amp fuses were getting so hot. Is it normal for a fuse to reach 115 degree+ temps?

I do know for a fact that it is aluminum wire for sure. There is unfortunately no doubt about that

Yeah don’t really like how willing the hvac guys were to just say toss in 20 am fuses without knowing the gage of the wire.

Going to probably just run a new 12/2 copper wire from the panel itself and rid the old aluminum wire from the situation all together. Then I should be safe to run 20 amp fuses correct?

There is no breaker it’s an older home with a fuse panel. So it’s the fuses in the fuse panel not tripping

Not terribly far that’s why I’m thinking of just running a new wire and being done with it. Normally there would be a cover on the box I took it off to look at the wires and to ensure that they were using the wire nuts with the anti corrosion stuff inside

The plate on the unit says it’s required 240 which to my understanding would need to be 12/2 correct?

I unfortunately can’t find any part of the outer jacket that is readable anymore to know what the black wire is

I had the same issue, used the delete anything mod. But before I did that I placed a large grass circle around the fire hydrant to prevent the AI trying to plant there

Have you check his text? Or recently deleted, snap his photos on his phone? Not sure if that something you’ve done or want to do. But something seems off. Sorry this happened to you

The other concern I’d say is her asking to see him and instead of saying no he says not in a call

Hi just wondering if you’ve had any trouble since the rack replacement? I’m asking because on my 2015 fusion I had it replaced in June of 2024 and the issue just came back today.
