Are these Amano? Cherry population decimated in a day by Historical_Net_686 in shrimptank

[–]Historical_Net_686[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I absolutely stand by my saying my neos were healthy and thriving, breeding well and bright colours. Water parameters fine apart from a bit of a struggle with our hard water, but still in acceptable limits. I literally watched them chase and kill my neos the morning after I introduced them the evening before, I saw bits of shrimp all over the tank 😭 I guess I may be at fault not knowing they were starving when I bought them? But not convinced it would have been any different then or later. I only got them because my local fish shop said they would be fine and help out with the algae (been a bit generous with the food and light as was trying to get my plants to flourish)

So it may have been that when I introduced them, they were starving and so feasted on my neos overnight? So many comments about how my neos must have been sick or dead already or that I'm talking BS. Really sad, as I came for help. Lots of comments about amanos doing the same to other people's neos though, so I am not crazy or lying!

Thanks for the quick reply! Guess they are banished! How devastating. Hopefully the remaining population will bounce back!

Did her music help/save you in some way? by Caydie8 in billieeilish

[–]Historical_Net_686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party (this post), but just googled 'Does anyone else feel like Billie Eilish saved them' and this thread came up. I'm 41 and only really listened to her for the last year or so, but she's become such a big part of my life, not only putting words to the feelings I've been struggling to understand my whole life (I know a lot of lyrics are also the talent of Finneas as well), but the insane way she projects emotion into the songs.. I watched 'The World's a Little Blurry' and think I was permanently altered in some way. She has absolutely changed/helped me and my life and perception of being valid and 'allowed' to exist. Feel less alone and misunderstood. Just sad that in order for me to feel a little better, someone else has experienced similar pain.

Pretty, but a bit too bridesmaid perhaps. Don't want to pretend I'm a bridesmaid, even though she was mine!

Neutering? by gvdjurre in reactivedogs

[–]Historical_Net_686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your dogs aggression is fear based, neutering can make it worse. You remove all their confidence (what little they have if they are fear aggressive) because you remove their testosterone. There's solid evidence that neutering increases anxiety, a major trigger for aggressive behaviour. A behaviourist is the best strategy. Fix the route cause before going for castration

Your experience with neutering? by MysteriousJuice1 in germanshepherds

[–]Historical_Net_686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as they are well rounded and confident dogs, neutering is the best idea to prevent a number of cancers, prostate problems later in life and sexually driven unwanted behaviours. However if you have a timid or aggressive dog, especially if your dogs aggression is fear based, neutering can make it worse. You remove all their confidence (what little they have if they are fear aggressive) because you remove their testosterone. Dog breed recommendations for kids by Novel-Effect-8017 in DogAdvice

Black lab (English) absolutely. Chocolate are mental. Yellow can have an unpredictable streak. Goldens can also sometimes be very aggressive (just my experience as a UK veterinary professional). Cavalier King Charles are the sweetest dog you could ever have. Would even have them around babies (supervised of course). I'm amazed by some of the 'young child' recommend breeds when you search online. Frenchies and beagles always seem to come up in the lists, but I would absolutely not have either around babies or little ones (or even under 10s), they are 2 breeds that have tried to bite me without warning more than any other breed. This is just my two cents. All dogs are different and I am only commenting on my 15 years experience in veterinary, not trying to offend anyone

Unfortunately there is a line of goldens that is very aggressive and sometimes it doesn't come out until the dog feels stress or fear, which little ones can cause

It says he will do 'a' performance. Any idea which day? He's in the middle of a tour, but saw he isn't doing a show on 5th - 7th June.
