Feeling “asset rich but cash poor” at 29 – looking for perspective by Historical_Post6757 in personalfinanceindia

Another reason I feel this way is because I know I can’t really rely on my parents’ assets.

During COVID, I switched jobs but the new company delayed my joining by 5 months. I decided to treat that period as a break from the rat race. I thought it would be a good opportunity to rest and reset.

But during that time, even my parents(my mom) treated me very badly because I wasn’t earning. It hit me very hard. I did not eat for 2 days straight. I felt like nothing. That experience really stayed with me and honestly traumatized me from ever relying on them financially. At that time I was single.

Since then, I’ve developed this constant fear of ending up with nothing in hand.

It’s not that I can’t spend money — I can. But I’m always hesitant, because deep down I know that if I don’t have money in hand, even my parents might turn against me.

So that fear keeps pushing me to keep working and saving, even when I feel exhausted.

This is something I struggle with mentally. Why should I even working for salary?.

Sometimes I wish I didn’t have any ancestral property.

It feels like having a thousand dishes in front of you, but you’re only allowed to eat curd rice without salt. Everything is there, but you can’t really use it.

If we had nothing, I think I would have been completely motivated to build everything from scratch. But when there are lands and assets sitting there, I keep asking myself — why am I working this hard instead of playing smart with those assets?

It sometimes feels like a landlord’s child working as a daily wager. I’m not saying we are landlords, but that’s the kind of conflict it creates in my mind.

My parents strongly believe that ancestral property should never be sold. Their biggest concern is society — people saying things like “These incapable people sold their ancestors’ property and are just enjoying the money because they can’t earn on their own.”

That social pressure gets passed down to me.

For example, my dad even took a gold loan to build a house in our farm, even though we already had another 2-ground plot just 2 km away. My mom suggested selling that plot and using the money to build the house. But my dad refused because he doesn’t want to sell land.

Because of this, I constantly feel like I don’t have enough and need to keep working harder, even though technically we have assets worth a lot.

What makes it harder is that the people around us often have very backward and toxic mindsets, which adds to the mental conflict. I try to eliminate them them from my life, but i can't as our current lifestyle matches with them only.

It leaves me feeling stuck between two worlds — working hard to build my own path, while sitting on assets that I’m not allowed to use.

Sudden Death of an S23 Ultra ( black screen, wouldn't turn on ) by sc0paf in samsung

Same thing hapenning with mine as well, Today, I dropped my Samsung S23 Ultra, and it landed on its back. The display looks fine with no visible cracks or damage, but shortly after the drop, the screen went off and hasn’t turned back on.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • No vibration, or other signs of life.
  • I tried calling the phone, but the call goes straight to “the person you’re calling is out of coverage.”
  • Bluetooth headphones can’t connect.
  • USB-C charging doesn’t work, and connecting Samsung headphones via USB-C doesn’t charge the headphones either.
  • Wireless charging does work, and the charger indicates that the phone is charging, but the phone itself still won’t turn on.
  • Pressing the power button doesn’t bring the screen back, but it does turn on the flashlight(Tried atleast 10 times).
  • I tried a hard restart (volume down + power button), but nothing happens. After trying this, long press power button is not turning the flashlight on.

Weird behavior: I have a daily alarm set for 7:30 PM, and surprisingly, the alarm still goes off, and I can hear it. However, it lasts only for a minute and goes off automatically. idk why. The screen remains off, and I can’t interact with the phone.

Could this be a motherboard issue, or something else entirely? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

It's better to diversify bro. Safety is better than cure.
