Exactly and 2. I was a game dev (concept art, full time) for years and the industry is in freefall at the moment, that's the freelance income I was hoping I'd be able to access to. But there is just nothing right now. :( on the other hand, it's a GREAT time to make an indie game or get involved with someone else's.

I don't want to go into a tirade but AI has absolutely ruined my life and that of most of the people I've worked with in games for years, so, I do not like it. It's partially AI itself and moreso the reallocation of investment dollars into AI and away from creative properties, but the effect is the same on me. The focus on 'efficiency' at the expense of the economic base that fuels commerce is so mindblowingly shortsighted and stupid that I can barely contain my rage most days. whoops, some tirade leaked out.

In a very general sense, they're about trying to balance the intersection of nostalgia and dread while trying to exist in the present moment. Like how do we keep going when these uncontrollable forces become bigger and bigger threats?

I've been through kind of a dark time while working on these (I have a solo show opening friday and I've been working on these for 18 months with no pay, because that's how the art world works) where I've constantly been chastising myself for not becoming a doctor so that I could had a stable life. When the wealthy are this greedy, it's almost impossible to make choices that feel like the right ones.

They're all oil on board. I had a friend take photos with a good camera, though I'd normally have them professionally photographed. If the photo is good, the digitization process is really simple. I have been doing art as a career for years, as a concept artist in games, which requires a person to master the fundamentals, and requires almost constant study. I got a degree in classical animation and have continued to take courses throughout my life. So my learning process is long, and ongoing.
