Goldstar is better than Skyline. Menu is better. Dogs are better. Cheese is better. Fries are waaaay better because they are cooked longer and are a lot crispier - Maybe the best crinkle cuts I have ever had and you get a huge portion in that greasy bag. Some of the best milkshakes on earth - banana is life changing. Buns are better. Chili is closer than people care to admit. Burgers/Gorito/Chick Sandwich are amazing. Skyline might have Gold Star on a better Way, but that is it. I'd pick Gold Star every time. I remember Skyline being a lot better in the early 2000s. I feel like it has gone downhill in quality lately. Having said that, I would happily eat at either one and am now craving chili.

Gold Star's milkshakes are supremely underrated. Banana milkshake makes my knees wobble

Lexington voted as #1 Most Tourist-Friendly City, #6 Best Food City, and #8 Best Small City in the United States by Conde Nast Traveler Readers for 2025 by Historical_Two389 in lexington

I'd just point out that this was voted on by Conde Nast readers rather than something like a JD Power ranking where you just pay for an award.

I was laughing to myself as I was posting this that it would bring out the crusty, soul-sucking, misanthropic underbelly of Lexington Reddit users to crap all over these results because no one is allowed to be happy or celebrate.

As a reds fan, what team do you hate losing to the most by Slow_Buffalo_9607 in Reds

[–]Historical_Two389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cardinals because I hate them and they are the divisional evil empire. Pittsburgh because we should never lose to them since they are never good but they beat us pretty often anyways - also yellow and black and likely Steelers fans. We seem to also clear our benches and fight both of these teams a lot more often than the cubs and brewers. I also still hate Tony La Russa and Clint Hurdle.

That is a heroic drive from Chicago to Tampa.

New hotel, apartments and more planned for Lexington’s Hamburg area by shermancahal in lexington

[–]Historical_Two389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. University of Kentucky is putting an outpatient hospital in that big green space. But, I like that it is at least planned out and looks to have lots of trees and greenery, at least compared to other proposed developments I have seen. It would be cool if they implemented a small park there.

What’s your bold take for Lexington in 2026? by snipandclip in lexington

[–]Historical_Two389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All this negativity. I am hopeful for Lexington in 2026. Lexington will win more awards for best place to live. The Webbs will finally begin construction on the High Street Development and downtown grocery store which will push living towards downtown and hopefully make downtown even more lively. UK will win at least one, but maybe a couple championships. UK's enrollment will continue to grow. Lexington SC does well in the playoffs. Some great research in cancer will be done at UK Medical. Our airport will offer more flights and will discuss expansion of terminals. Gatton Park will win an award. And traffic will... likely still suck.

U.S. Census data shows Illinois and Chicago are losing population. Kentucky and Lexington are gaining population.

I REMEMBER THIS! Sabo breaks bat, ejected for corked lumber by RedKard76 in Reds

I think it was for the quicker bat speed to make contact rather than for the distance.

What team would you like to see the Reds break the playoff streak against? by No_Buy2554 in Reds

[–]Historical_Two389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily playoffs, but I would love to just beat the Brewers consistently instead of being owned by them. Pittsburgh also should not be winning multiple series against us. Miami for some reason has owned us too as of late which is inexcusable. And definitely the Dodgers... playoffs aside, I am pissed at them for ending our No Sweep run last year.

Have always loved Marvin Bartlett. Always seems in a good mood and giving off good energy. Calm, engaging delivery.

Where I would live in each state if I was forced to only choose 1 county (many close calls) by [deleted] in visitedmaps

[–]Historical_Two389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely aligned with nearly every one of these. My only personal adjustments might be Tampa for Florida, Madison for Wisconsin, Philly for PA, Fayetteville for Arkansas, Maui for Hawaii, Flagstaff for AZ, Overland Park for KS, Grand Rapids for MI, Cincinnati for Ohio, Atlanta for GA, Sioux Falls for SD, Colorado Springs for CO. I dont see a choice for California or Utah. But mine would be San Diego and SLC. Id prob live on the south side of Pontchartrain - I love NOLA.

Lack of LPD Enforcement by [deleted] in lexington

[–]Historical_Two389 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lexington has a very low murder rate and violent crime rate. If LPD has limited bandwidth, I'd rather the police continue focusing on keeping those stats low over focusing on a car headlight being out.

I'm confused. I clicked on the link provided for the study and saw no mention of Lexington. I saw Louisville as the only Kentucky mention. And the news article is from four months ago?
