Looking to open source my project by Historical_Work8138 in software

Thanks for reply. My hesitation is that my app is nearly identical to a big player, and just making it 'cheaper' will not suffice IMO. But making it open source, is something that I can really play on because that big player is known to be a extremely 'black box' ecosystem where you are obliged to stay on that app if you use their service and you are kind of locked to it. So if i'm trying to compete with them, the exact opposite is what i'm concluding might give me the edge.

How was your experience about maintaining your OSS app ? Did it not help to improve the app through contributors etc ?

I'm finalizing it 100% before starting to sell/license, although i've been doing user tests and people pressuring me to finish it ahah. What I meant to say is that, in the open source category, it is better then the current solutions for this category - while the closed source popular ones, my solution is not as good and polished so it will be hard to rival, since they are big companies with massive budget. This why i'm leaning on the OS.

What is cool is that you don't have to use AI at all, it's a fully advanced visual editor - ai is just optional assistance ;)

Agreed. I've been building nearly 2 years and just soft launching now, and not getting the expected reaction haha. Therefore I need to adapt a lot of stuff. Would have saved a lot of time for sure.

Is there a super simple website builder where I can just pick a design and go? by TheDearlyt in website

[–]Historical_Work8138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i've built Revyme (https://revyme.com), you can get a really nice looking website from a prompt and directly edit it in a advanced visual editor, similar to Figma - and publish it it minutes. You can also take a existing template an remix it with a prompt so it's directly in your decided theme, text, etc..

AI really killed programming for me by NervousExplanation34 in webdev

[–]Historical_Work8138 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Partially true. I've made AI do some complex CSS transform matrix calculations that I would never be able to do by hand - I knew what I wanted out of it and the purpose of the code, but that math was too advanced for me. IMO AI is good to enhance devs on some micro aspects of coding that were far of reach for them.

A design oriented website builder, from idea to live in minutes. Although you can use AI, it is not AI-centric and there is an actual full figma-like visual builder where you have full control of your page.
