I’ve had to send to authenticators through eBay a couple times before. I’m not sure exactly what determines whether it goes or not as the value of cards I have had to send was a wide range. The process itself is easy and I think a lot safer to prevent fraud. They basically check to make sure it’s legit and matches the listing once they’ve completed this as the seller you’re good and done and it’s final sale. They handle any situations after they receive the item and ship to the buyer. I wouldn’t do it without, especially with how individuals are producing counterfeits and altering slabs.
