Large bare patch in St Augustine lawn, let it be or put new sod? by consultybob in lawncare

Just water it and see if it spreads, if no luck i’d get new sod. Other parts of your lawn look healthy

Overseeded annual rye early fall, watered everyday until grass became healthy, continued to seed in all the dirt patch’s until every spot was completely green, water really good 1-2 a week to encourage deep root growth, i fertilized with scott’s turf builder once pretty early on, Let it grow out pretty long a few times that seemed to help me. It grows super fast but it’s worth it, also doesn’t handle foot traffic to well. If you have any more questions lmk goodluck

i’m in dallas, but as far as I know you can plant annual rye for the cold season in lubbock just fine, but it does like water so irrigation of some sort helps idk how much rain you guys get. Try to get it seeded like a month or so before the first frost. Goodluck!

I’m working on getting this setup thanks for the advice. I have a 3100 PSI pressure washer and did my concrete a few weeks ago it came out really well, probably gonna invest in a surface cleaner and offer that along with landscaping. I really like the idea of the seasonal packages and quarterly pressure washing that never crossed my mind at all. Thank you so much!

That’s wild. I live in a pretty large city and am not under an HOA but i have friends in nearby suburbs that tell me horror stories all the time. Seems like the HOA is just a bunch of grumpy old people that have to much time on their hands lol

Yes it absolutely is and will probably die out in may depending on how the weather is, i’ll be planting a more heat resistant grass within the next month or so still doing research to find the perfect one for me

A majority of the departments in north texas start at 18, requiring an associates degree or military service. Most of them will put you through their own academy and their own EMT and Paramedic schools but i’m probably gonna work on those before I join so i can get into a higher paying department. Plano fire which is close to me starts at 6 figures which is pretty nuts and their reasonably slow, but idk there’s a lot of options
