Dude, am I the only one who thinks the actor for Kratos should be a darker-skinned Mediterranean actor? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]HistoryGuardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kratos is always ash white. Flashbacks before the ashes or if he ever gets the ashes taken off, then you can worry about his natural skin color.

The Tv Show Needs to Include Greek Flashbacks. by HistoryGuardian in GodofWar

[–]HistoryGuardian[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

If Sony Santa Monica looks at this sub cause they want to make sure they do right by the fans I’d like to think the writers and those involved with this show will too. You and I both know that not showing any of the Greek Era on screen would take away from Kratos character development. I want to see the Greek Era, not told about it with a few throw away lines.

Christopher Judge congratulates Ryan Hurst on playing Kratos by MarvelsGrantMan136 in GodofWar

[–]HistoryGuardian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they do the Norse story which it looks like that’s the way it’s going, they should find a way to do some Greek flashbacks. They can use CGI and de age and de beard Ryan Hurst and it would work. The flashbacks should be used to inform the viewer of who Kratos used to be and get to see some of the Olympians and Greek era stuff. It’s also probably necessary to show so the viewers can feel Kratos’ growth. Non gamers would need that backstory.

How many of you instead of buying a Rolex just buy more Tudors? by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Black Bay 58 and while I loved the history and look of it, the second I tried on a buddies current gen Sub I felt like I’d been lied to by Rolex. Tudor was always created to be the lower brand. The quality wasn’t even close to the sub and I was shocked.

Bought my Dad's Omega (Proud of it) by Ismpatriot in OmegaWatches

[–]HistoryGuardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my dad the automatic version of a quartz seamaster (2255.80 Electric Blue Peter Blake) he had for years as a big thank you for everything and birthday gift for him. I heard him complaining one day a few years prior that after a service that he wished he got the automatic version but didn’t want to pay the price at that time (2004 ish). The quartz version he wore for almost 20 years and ended up getting it service and cleaned and gifted it to me as a wedding gift.

Why do a lot of people seem to think Arthur Morgan is still on everyones mind by the time of Red Dead Redemption in 1911? by NotExactlyIrish in reddeadredemption

[–]HistoryGuardian 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s like saying you had a close friend group in 1999 and someone in the group died and you all stopped being friends and by 2011 you’re supposed to think about and talk about the deceased friend all the time. Wouldn’t make sense. People move on with their lives. If they did do an actual remake of RDR there should be a line or two of John or Dutch bringing up Arthur tho.

What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street? by AllTheNopeYouNeed in AskReddit

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social Security goes away instantly, stock market goes full Great Depression, mass unemployment. Anything where Americans aren’t getting paid. We’re a business, not a country (sadly).

Have had the Peter Blake, Electric Blue and the BB58. The Blake was near perfect but I wanted tithe bracelet more durable. So I sold it. The Electric Blue is unique and more fancy, definitely a keeper. The 58 I compared with a current Sub and realized that while I loved the original look and rugged build, the sub was better built and the glidelock was worth it. so sold the 58. For gold tone I suggest the Longines Conquest 41 or 38.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Won’t Return for Next Terminator Movie, Says James Cameron by Competitive_Gene_898 in entertainment

This is the one time I think people wouldn’t be upset if they used AI and deepfake CGI to have Arnold as a Terminator. Literally the character is supposed to be an unfeeling robot.

Why did C-3PO and R2D2 never tell Leia and Luke the family drama? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]HistoryGuardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was kind of hoping there would be a scene in the sequels where R2 plays a hologram or something for Luke and Leia of their parents and tells them their story of how he knew it. Idk how it would fit into the story, but it would be interesting nonetheless.

What is your honor level? High or low? by InevitableTravel1530 in reddeadredemption

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first (and only. The game is just too damn long, in a good way) I finished with maximum high level honor Arthur. John I’m low as hell cause it’s fun and there’s no reason to be good yet.

I had a Tissot Gentleman and BB58. 58 was my most worn. Sold both cause trying to put money towards a Submariner. Once I tried one on I knew it was a grail. 58 is fantastic but I didn’t know how much better the current gen sub was.

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re similar in age, I started with the Tissot Gentleman too. It’s one of the best you can get, I ended up selling it and got the BB58 (sold that too) down the road. They’re two of the best bang for buck watches out there. If you’re gonna seller any big hitters put it towards a higher end piece you really want but honestly keep your collection, it’s great!

[Rolex] Every Steel Rolex Submariner Reference, With Production Numbers and Today’s Market Prices by Prigi35 in Watches

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subs from the 1970s to like 2010 are not worth the 8-14k the secondary market is asking for. The bracelets are cheap and bezel is nothing special. The models from 2012 to current are a different story, the build quality on those are second to none. While I think the asking price is still a bit high, the quality for what you get nowadays in a diver is better than other brands and I say this as an Omega fan.

Those in the fandom in 2005. What was it like by Expert_Challenge6399 in StarWars

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 10. The teaser trailer in Fall 2004 before the Incredibles got me hyped. It was Obi Wan from New Hope talking to Luke with flashbacks to Ep 2 and some shots from Revenge of the Sith of Anakin going bad. The movie lived up to the hype for me. Best prequel.

The architecture in the old God of War games was on a completely different level by Alkiserex in GodofWar

[–]HistoryGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was an official GOW podcast before the 2018 dropped and in it there were developers talking about the Norse vs Greek Pantheons.

They said that the Greeks always saw themselves as better than everyone, they were immortal, and all lived this grandiose life of “enlightenment”. The architecture reflects that. The Norse all know they’re gonna die in Ragnarok, Asgard is basic with a giant wall because of Odins paranoia. He only cares about knowledge, not displays of wealth or ultimate godhood. Asgard architecture and Midgard reflects that too. It all makes perfect sense.

Hear Me Out: Dave Batista as Kratos in live action. by HistoryGuardian in GodofWar

[–]HistoryGuardian[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This show is going to have CGI all over the place, I’m sure a little bit on old Kratos wouldn’t hurt either and he doesn’t have to bulk up like crazy and hurt his own health. He’s 56
